Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Combining blogs and a day at HT

Old shed in the field
I have decided to combine my picture blog with this blog.  Each day I'll start the post with a picture I've taken that I would have put on my picture blog.

It had rained during the night but this morning it was 60 degrees and sunny when I walked.  I made a stop first at the post office to drop a Netflix in the mail slot and continued on to around the Farm Loop route and then through town, around one of the farm routes, and around the loop behind the ball park.
Besides the two churches in town which I posted the other day, there is this church along the Farm Loop.

I saw one woman running and the guys were chipping the trees they cut down the other day.

There were a bunch of geese in one of the fields.

It was such a pretty spring morning and I was happy to be able to be out there walking.

I walked 6.2 miles.
I found a penny - heads up.

On such a pretty day we just had to get up to Happy Trails so right after breakfast we packed a lunch and brought some bottles of water and headed up there.  I got to try out my new hiking shoes and they were great.

The picture is of our little stream with a flower growing there in the water.  I stood there a while listening to the water.  I love that sound.

Ken worked on the tractor doing maintenance on the road leading up to our driveway and the driveway itself.  I went up behind the wood shop and cleared a trail to the end of our property.  Our land backs on to a state forest and just up a bit from the trail I made on our land is a hiking trail on state property.  I walked up to that and walked along there for a little ways.

Our neighbor Ron stopped by to say hi and to ask Ken's advice on a building problem he was having.  We walked through the woods to his place and Ken helped him out.
Not long after that it was time to go back home.

I had planned on having the rest of the Sweet Potato Chili from last week, which I had frozen, for supper, but Ken threw the pizza word out there so we went to Brenda's for pizza instead.  We'll have the chili tomorrow.

Tomorrow Ken goes for the written part of the test for getting his bus license.  A prayer that he passes would be appreciated.  Thanks. : )

Hope your day has been a good one and that you smiled often.

Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side;
my greatest concern is to be on God's side,
for God is always right.

  5. That is a very pretty and peaceful picture.
    When I read about what you see while walking in the early morning hours it makes me wonder what I'm missing out there. I guess there's one way to find out :).
    Looks like a great day to be at HT.
    Good luck to Ken on the test.

  6. That's a beautiful picture! How cool that a trail at Happy Trails connects to a state forest one! I mean, really, it couldn't be more fantastic! Did you mention sweet potato chili first? Because I remember that Ken was not as fond of it as you were. LOL. I tried a rice recipe for supper last night, which I though was quite tasty, but John was very noncommittal about it. He does enjoy being fed so is easy with the critiques. Praying that Ken aces the written exam!
