Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Cancelled

Well, those perfect mornings had to end sometime, but they'll be back.  It had rained over night but by morning the rain had stopped and it was just cloudy when I left for my walk.  The temperature was a muggy 68 degrees and it felt like it would rain at any moment.  I didn't take my umbrella because I just didn't feel like carrying it around.
I walked around the lake once again.  Very quiet with only a handful of people about.  Rabbits and geese were around but I didn't see any deer.

About two miles from home a light rain started and it rained until I got home.  It was very light so I didn't get soaked but just damp.  I didn't mind not having my umbrella because the rain made things a bit cooler.
It was actually a very nice walk in spite of the weather. : )
I walked 6.4 miles.

It was knitting day but I didn't go.  I ended up staying home and reading and read until I finished my book, The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton.  I thought the book was excellent.  Instead of writing what it is about I just took a picture of the back cover.
Except for things that HAD to be done that's all I did during the day.  It was rained on and off all day so I picked a good day to sit and read. : )

Ken was on the way home to pick me up so we could meet the realtor when she called him and cancelled the meeting for day.  We were disappointed but what can you do.  We rescheduled and will meet her on Friday instead.  Oh well, we've waited this long, what's another few days.

So we just stayed home, and had tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for supper.
It is still raining on and off so we're spending a quiet evening at home.  We will watch another episode of Once Upon a Time and have our ice cream in a little while.  I'm really liking Once Upon a Time!!

Hope all went well for you today and you smiled often. : )

  1. Once Upon a Time is starting up again soon. Next Sunday? Not sure. Will you be all caught up by then? I would have liked it more if it had ended on a high note, but it ended on an ominous one. Course that's what keeps such stories moving forward. That book sounds very interesting.

  2. Wow, sounds like a lovely rainy day...walking then reading. I would love that. Hope you are able to meet with your realtor as planned. Buying and selling property can be frustrating at times...so many delays and changes, ups and downs. Hope your real estate transaction goes smoothly.

Seems I have read other books by this author though......... Guess it's time to jump back into similar books. :-)

  4. I love curling up with a good book on a rainy day. Last night I started another Kate Morton book (House at Riverton). I think she is a great author.
I also enjoyed A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Perfect quote today.

  5. Your walk around the lake sounds idyllic and I wrote down the title of the book you enjoyed. I recall reading A tree grows in Brooklyn with my mom, years ago.
