Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Thirsty Goldfinch
 ❀     ❀     ❀     ❀
This morning it was 60 degrees and raining when I walked.  At times it rained hard and other times just a drizzle.  I took along my umbrella today when I walked around the farm loop.  Pretty windy at times too and once I got back to the main road and the big trucks passed by, my umbrella almost blew inside out a couple of times.

After 4 1/2 miles, I passed by  my house and dropped off the umbrella because the rain had pretty much stopped by then.  I then walked around the path behind the ball park, around one of the cemeteries, up to Main St and then home.

I saw two deer start to cross the road and also saw a truck coming up the street, but the driver saw them too and stopped in time.

I didn't see anyone else out walking.
Walked 6.5 miles.

The ice cream social after church last night was really nice.  Quite a lot of people stayed.  I guess it's hard to pass up ice cream.  I had chocolate with chocolate syrup, cherry syrup and sprinkles.

In between rain showers today Ken has been working on the little pond.  Here is the progress so far.  He has the liner in and has put in the pump too.  Now it just needs more rocks.
I've been inside doing a little cleaning and went through a bunch of old receipts, bills and papers that I had filed away.  I shredded them all.  I've also straightened up my office/craft room again.  I feel like it always needs straightening up.

I'm going to make some baked pasta tonight for supper and then we'll go out to do a few errands.

Hope your day was one that made you smile.

Three Thankful Things Today
  1. Ken is doing such a great job on the pond (he has turned on the pump and with the kitchen window open I can hear the water)
  2. That I have an office/craft room
  3.  A mini Nestles Crunch bar

Okey-dokey... my vote has been cast!
It will be fun to see the results.

Glad you had a good walk, and I'm so glad that the deer didn't get hit! I hate when that happens.... it's tragic for the deer, and for the drivers too!!

Looking good Ken... the pond I mean. How fun to be able to hear the water run from your window!

I'm so glad to have a chance to vote today. I read your post a few days ago when you mentioned the choices, but I got sidetracked and never left my comment. All this to say I just voted :).
I smiled when I saw your goldfinch as I saw one today too and it was the brightest spot in our rainy Monday. The pond is coming right along. Don't you just love the sound?

I can't wait to see the finished pond. I would love to have one but they take a lot of care.

I really like the way the pond is coming along -- it's going to be a great addition to your property. I also like all three possible names for your home, although I did choose only one when I was voting.

Your ice cream social at church sounds fun. I am making homemade ice cream tonight! I love your pond. Ken is doing a great job. We have a little pond in our back yard with a little water fall but could never get the pump to work right. For a while we had fish in it, but finally emptied it so the grand kids wouldn't accidentally fall in. Can't wait to see what you name your happy home! Have a great day. P.S. I truly meant everything I said about you and your blog in my last post. Sure hope to meet you in person one day!

Hearing about your ice cream social reminds me of my church youth group when I was a teenager. We would have ice cream suppers as a fund raiser and were thrilled when we cleared $40 one time! We donated the money to the youth service fund. Ken is doing a fantastic job!

I bet you got your craft room/office finished today! I didn't get mine finished. I think it's a week's job. ;)

Oh how nice to be able to hear the fountain from the house. It's looking really nice.

I think your rain is going to arrive here Wednesday. That will be a good day to go to the sewing room.
