Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Lawn Mowing

🐝     🐝
Clouds and sun today on my walk and it was 60 degrees.
Walked the roads behind my house, then around the industrial park.
Headed down the main road, through town and down a ways toward HT.
Back to town around one of the cemeteries and then home.

Lee was out on his bike checking out the yard sales in town and stopped
to say hi and to give me a couple candy mints which he does every morning
he is out there.  😊

While I was walking Ken went up to HT to pick up the trailer
and I snapped this picture of him as he passed by me on the way home
with the trailer.
Walked 6.2 miles
Found a nickel
🚶     🚶
Ken got the trailer because we had to bring the lawn mower to church
so I could mow the lawn.
The church mower had a mishap and Ken volunteered us to mow the lawn
at the meeting he went to last night.
I mowed because I'm the one who always mows the lawn at home and can
maneuver our mower around quite good now.  The no zero turn mowers
take a bit of getting used to and it is pretty funny watching Ken trying to drive it.
It makes me smile to be able to do something better than Ken. 😊
It is funny because he can drive ANYTHING and has no problem
backing up a trailer.
While I mowed, Ken edged and trimmed tree branches.
When I first started mowing today Ken motioned for me to stop.
He told me the wheel was very wobbly.  Turns out one of the wheels only had
one lug nut out of four holding the wheel on.
So we made a quick trip to the hardware store and bought three lug nuts.
Put them on the mower and I was set to go.

In the afternoon we took the trailer back up to Happy Trails
and stayed for a little while walking around where our house will be.
Wow, Ken has made some huge piles of rocks that he has taken out of
the house area.  He is making piles of them so we will be able to use the rocks
for walls and things that he plans to build one day.

Once we got back home we sat out on the swing in the yard
and had ice cream cones.  They were vanilla ice cream swirled with
orange sherbert.  Tastes just like creamsicles, the ice cream on a stick
that we used to get from the Good Humor man when we were kids.

That's it for today.
It's been a good one.
A happy day to you.

Read this in Readers Digest

During a conference, my high school principal insulted my immigrant mother's English.  Mom didn't get upset.  Instead, she smiled politely as she delivered this punch to the gut:  "I'm sorry.  Sometimes I get English mixed up with the other six languages I speak."

Great Reader's digest story! I'm the one who mows the lawn in our family, too. Your church is blessed to have you and your husband with your servants heart...

You and Lorelei would so get along...she loves ice cream! (I do, too, but I don't have it every day, but I do make sure to have some for her when she is here! Oh, maybe you don't know, she is our granddaughter.)

I love rocks...always have. Ever since I was big enough to remember almost. I hope when the time comes you show pics of what you/Ken do with them.

Hope you'll give us a picture of your rock piles sometime. I can imagine how thrilling it is to get close to building your house the way you want it. We've bought 5 spec houses and it's always been my dream to build a house the way I want it using what I want.

Your walking weather continues to sound wonderful to me.
How nice of you and Ken to volunteer to mow and spruce up around the church. Glad Ken noticed that wobbly wheel.
