Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Saturday's Critters and no morning walk

Linking up today with Eileen for Saturday's Critters.
Came across this Gray Cat Bird in the middle of the road today.
Looks like he has a broken left foot.
I got up real close to take his picture and then he flew away.

7:00 this morning out my front door.
Doesn't happen very often but when I woke up this morning I heard the
rain on the roof and windows and turned over and went back to sleep.
Got up at 7:00 and the rain was still coming down in buckets and I just didn't
feel like walking and getting wet.

It rained ALL morning and we got about 4 inches of rain.
By lunch time it had stopped raining and then we had a mixture of sun
and clouds and it stayed in the 60's.

Spent some time this morning trying to get caught up with blog reading.

After lunch we went up to Happy Trails to see how it was after all the rain.
Pretty wet and we really couldn't do anything.
I walked from the cabin down to our future driveway which is .3 of a mile.
I brought along my walking shoes and walked back home so I got part of my walk in.
From our future driveway, down the hill and to the main road is almost a mile
and then to town by the church makes 2 miles and
another half mile to home makes it 2.5 miles.
And I found a dime.
That wasn't much of a walk so I went for another walk this evening
after supper and this time I walked around town.
Every day at 12 noon and 6 in the evening the church in town plays
the church bells.  You can hear them at my house but today I was right
at the church when they started playing Abide With Me.
What great walking weather this evening.  It was sunny with a nice
cool breeze and the air was clear and crisp.
It is so nice outside after a heavy rain.
This evening I walked 3.5 miles.

A happy day to you.

Proverbs 24:17-20
Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth,
and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him,
and he turn away his wrath from him.

Fret not thyself because of evil men,
neither be thou envious of the wicked,

For there shall be no reward to the evil man;
the candle of the wicked shall be put out.

Sounds like a wet, wet day! We had cool breeze, humidity down. A wonderful, wonderful day.

I always hate seeing injured birds...

Now that's a lot of rain. We finally got some last night which was much needed.
Glad to hear that you still got a walk in and it sounds like it paid off. I never find money when I walk around my neighborhood.
I love to hear church bells.

I just love the smell in the air after a rain . . . so sweet and fresh. How wonderful to be able to hear the church bells ring each day and twice a day at that. I would love that:)
Have a sweet Sunday.
Connie :)

Hello, I think the Catbird will be ok, cute photo. We had rain yesterday too, but not as much as you. The last two photos are my favorite, I love the view down the road and the horses. Nice walk. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and new week!

I always feel bad for birds with broken foots, they can be healed but I doubt birds know how to do it on their own

Hi Happyone, Right now I am in a bit of a slow down with my blogging. But one thing is consistent … I can visit Life is Good : ) and know that I am going to see some wonderful pictures you have taken on your walks. It is true today as always. I just looked over the last few posts and must mention the following: July 29th The road alongside the cornfield, July 28th The fog, July 27th The Clouds, July 26th Black Eyed Susan’s, July 24th Corn Standing Tall, July 22nd The rabbit … so cute!, all the pics on July 20th! Basically I just really enjoy your photography! Thanks so much for sharing and for your kind comments on my blog as well! Wishing you and Ken a fine week ahead!

You certainly did have a lot of rain and what a sorrowful looking little bird :( At least it brightened up for the rest of the day. Beautiful horses. Have a wonderful week.

You're smart to give yourself grace and go back to sleep, Karen!
