Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A day at Happy Trails

🐄     🐄
It was a delightful 55 degrees this morning and sunny at 6:30 when I
left on my walk.
People often ask me what is my favorite walking weather and today was it.
In the 40's or 50's is perfect for me and I'd rather
walk in the cold than when it is hot.

First walked to the post office and mailed off a few cards down the mail slot.
Then walked the Farm Loop and once I got back to town I made
a loop around town and one of the cemeteries and then home.
Some one stopped and asked me where the Veterinarian's office  was in town.
Had to tell him there wasn't one, at least none that I know about and
I've walked up and down these streets quite a few times. 😊

Walked 6.3 miles

Right after breakfast we both headed up to Happy Trails and spent the day there.
I got a second coat of paint on the cabin floor.
We put up gutters on the back of the cabin.
Painted some boards for shelves and another for a piece of outside trim
and Ken nailed it up.
Lunch time we ate sandwiches out on the picnic table.

After lunch we went down to where the house is going to be.
We have it all marked out with yellow rope.
We stood in all the different rooms in the house, stood on the porch,
and in the garage.  Someday we won't have to imagine it. 😊

We did a lot of walking around up there, no problem meeting my
 step goal for the day!!
We got back home about 4:00, got cleaned up and I just didn't
feel like cooking so we hopped in the car and went to Brenda's for supper.

It's been a good day.
Life if Good
A happy day to you.

FG - the picture from yesterday is weeds growing by a rusty guard rail along the road.

Vee - Oh yes,  I helped with the design of the house.  Mostly telling him what I wanted and him making it so.

The light in the first picture is amazing. I am so happy for you, that you can plan and work towards this new house together. That is true blessing.

An exciting time, planning a new house! And now I get the picture. Don't know how I missed it.

I'm guessing Brenda's is a restaurant or else you have a real close friend you can pop in on and have dinner with. Sounds like a good day!

Not a good thing if you have a pet. My dog used to shake on the way to the vet. Didn't take her long to fear the doctor

I LOVE that first view....

You made a comment on my 'Ditch Lilies" post the other day and I meant to at least reply. I always called them Tiger Lilies, then I got to thinking that Tiger Lilies are the ones with spots on them and they almost have a shooting start look to them. If you google Tiger Lilies and then click images, you will see some of the ones I mean.

Anyway, the upshot is, I don't know if they are Tiger Lilies or not, bt one of my blog friends told me she called the ditch lilies, cause around here they grow along ditches a lot!

I am sorry I did not respond sooner to your question.

I think that the perfect conditions for walking are just as you say!
What will you use the cabin for when you have a house there, too?

Hello, I love the view of the cows. I enjoy walking more on a cooler day than a hot humid day. It is exciting building your home. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!

Wonderful! I always feel happy hearing about Happy Trails! That's my favorite weather for walking. If you walk fast, you essentially add 10 degrees. So if it is 50, dress like it is 60. running adds about 20 degrees. At least that is what our Team in Training coaches told us.

Gotta love a man who is open to suggestions. 🤓

Often people credit John with what I designed. Sometimes I even pipe up to say so.

That does sound like great walking weather...sleeping weather even a bit cooler. Do you have more steps in your goal for the day than are done during your morning walk? You do love to move!
