Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Quilt Barn (21)

Monday is the day I link up with Tom for his Barn Collective Series.
I have another quilt barn for this week.
This barn is owned by Jim and Lena Fratz and is along the
National Road (Rte 40) in Grantsville, Md in Garrett county.
The quilt square pattern is a Double Pinwheel.

🚜     🚜     🚜
This morning was a cloudy one and 33 degrees.
Walked the roads behind my house, all around town, and both cemeteries.

Saw Kathy arrive at the parking lot and we said hi and then walked
in different directions.

Walking through a small parking lot by the Blue Moon Cafe in the
middle of town, a state trooper pulled in fast and made a quick U turn
and headed back out of town.  He must have seen someone speeding
through town or got a call.  I'm glad I was able to hop over by the building
to get out of his way.

That was the only excitement around town this morning.
Kind of quiet because of the holiday.

Walked 6 miles

It's hard for me to get a picture of crows because they fly away
so quickly but I managed to get a picture of one today.
Not a great one but still I was happy to get one up in a tree as I walked under it.

Had some errands to do today so we headed down to LaVale with a stop
in Grantsville on the way.

I was invited to a baby shower on Saturday for a woman at church.
Will not be attending the shower but I did pick up these couple of cute outfits
for baby Brooklyn.  So many adorable outfits to choose from.
Brooklyn came into this world last week.
I guess she wanted to arrive in time to enjoy the shower too.
We went food shopping at the Walmart down in LaVale.  It's a nicer one than
the one we usually go to in Oakland.
Walked around the mall there too so got lots of good steps in today
and the day isn't over yet.
So far I've made my goal step each day.
Making Bean Vegetable Soup for supper this evening.
It should be done in a half hour or so.
Recipe is HERE.

Liking the book The Dollhouse I'm reading and I should finish it later.

A happy day to you and a smile from me to you.

"Past the seeker as he prayed came the crippled and the beggar and the beaten.
And seeing them.... he cried, "Great God, how is it that a loving
creator can see such things and yet do nothing about them?"
God said, "I did do something.  I made you."

Such cute little outfits for you to give to Brooklyn! :)

I am amazed at just how many barn quilts there are in your area. I have certainly enjoyed viewing them and their history. You've done a great job with your contributions to Tom's Barn Collection series!

Yummy soup you are having for supper tonight. :) I really like your recipe blog, Karen!

Wish that I had thought of supper while there was time to do something about it. Ha! Eggs and toast for me I guess. Your winter has been quite mild, especially compared to last year. It sure makes it better for walking.

What a great looking barn with it's new roof and doors...nice choice of colors for the quilt block. Babies come it's time, regardless of what the Doctor says. Thanks for stopping by, I hope to see you back again.

I took a photo a couple of years ago of any crows sitting in a tree like yours here. It looked like a crow convention. I wish I still had it. The baby outfits are so cute! I enjoy your quilt barn posts. I wish they had something like that here. They are so quaint looking!

I used to love dressing my sons in Oshkosh dungarees when they were little, many moons ago. I still have a couple of oshkosh teddies that my husband brought back from a trip to the USA. Have a wonderful Wednesday :)
