Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Happy New Year

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
The Lord make His face shine upon thee,
and be gracious unto thee:
The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee,
and give thee peace.
Numbers 6:24-26

I read this Prayer for the the New Year on Ellen's Blog and
liked it so much I'm posting it here too.

A New Year's Prayer
May God make your year a happy one!

Not by shielding you from all sorrows and pain,

But by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes;

Not by making your path easy,

But by making you sturdy to travel any path;

Not by taking hardships from you,
But by taking fear from your heart;

Not by granting you unbroken sunshine,

But by keeping your face bright, even in the shadows;

Not by making your life always pleasant,

But by showing you when people and their causes need you most,

and by making you anxious to be there to help.

God’s love, peace, hope and joy to you for the year ahead.

 Happy New Year to you all.

This month on my walks the coins I found added up 62 cents.
A quarter, 3 dimes, 1 nickel, and 2 pennies.

For the year 2016 I found a total of $3.81 and is the least amount I've found in a year.
The most coins I found was in 2008 when I found $20.43.
I started saving the coins I found on my walks back in 1997.
My banks hold a total of $243.35.

I keep track of the steps I take on a site called WalkerTracker and this year I have taken 5,431,045 steps.  That includes steps taking all day long NOT just on my walks.
That comes out to about 2,716 miles which averages about 7.5 miles per day.
Maybe I can beat that this year.

Sending you and yours good wishes for 2017

All the best Jan

Hi Karen - I love how you keep track of your steps and the money you find. I have the walker tracker app on my phone so I will have to keep track of my steps and miles walked this year. I have been keeping track since October and I walked over 500 miles since Oct. 3. I hope 2017 is an awesome year for you!

You have done well with the money you have found over the years. Isn't it remarkable how far we walk everyday?
Have another wonderful year!

You know, I was wondering if you had kept all the coins you found while walking. That is amazing. Just shows what can happen when you stick to anything. I've always been one who starts things and then fizzles out and I hate that about myself. Happy New Year! and thanks for all your encouraging words.

Over 5 million steps....WOW!!! I don't think I've ever found any money on my walks, but I don't walk as far as you and it's only here in our subdivision. Happy New Year to you....HOPE 2017 is full of lots of blessings.
