Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Around the house

Had a great time playing Mexican Train last night.
I came in dead last with a score of 997 which was a new record for the worst player.
I was hoping for 1000 but was a bit short. 😊
The lower the score the better.
Tricia won but I forget what her score was.  Think it was in the low 300's.
After the game we stayed around and just talked.
The next game night will be at our house and this time we are going to play Monopoly.
It will be the first time we will play something other than Mexican Train.

Woke up to a coating of ice on everything and a misty drizzle.
Decided not to walk.
Too bad the fitness center is closed on Saturday!!
So I had to make due with walking around the house and I did meet
and surpass my step goal by 2:00 this afternoon.

We've been home all day on this dreary Saturday.
Since I didn't walk and have been home I didn't take any pictures outside.
So I took a few of some of the things in my house while walking around.
Some of my bottle collection
A couple of shelves that my Step-Dad made.  I've posted them before
but with different things on them.  I move things around a bit from time to time.
Box of books and toys
Happy on top of a book shelf
An old paraffin (kerosene) heater
Worked on the puzzle and read.
I've started the next baby blanket, other weave-it one.
A pink and white check.
Pizza dough is in the bread machine and Ken will be making the
pizza which will be our supper.

A happy day to you and a smile from me to you.

John - Yes, there are hills to walk up and down and I'm sure I use up more calories because of it.
Tom - Mexican Train is a game played with dominoes.  Here's a link about it.

I sure can't blame you for skipping your walk under such ice conditions. A day inside a warm house isn't so bad. I've never played Mexican Train but it sounds like you all have a lot of fun.

You were smart to stay home today Karen and not walk. We were chilly but no precipitation.
Glad you had fun last night. Monoploy is ALWAYS fun!
Love seeing the photos of your collections around your house. Love your old wooden boxes. We have a few too.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I love the fun and happy things you have around your home! I would love to see it in person one day! So glad you had a fun game night. We used to play games a lot, but not so much any more. We need to get back into it. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and stay warm!

I have one of those heaters, never thought about using it as a table. Thanks for clueing this clueless guy in about Mexican Train, I need to get out of my cave now and then.

Lovely to see your things displayed so nicely. Wise of you to stay indoors when it's icy, just a shame you couldn't get to your new gym. We play games when the youngsters are here, usually Balderdash or sometimes Scrabble.

Hello Karen,

I enjoyed taking your walk with you around your house! I especially enjoyed your bottle collection...I really like bottles in a display...especially the ones with some age to them. Glad you got your steps in for the day after all!

I like those blue bottles - we have a collection of blue glass - so my eyes were drawn to that particular photo.

Sometimes it is nice to spend a day inside, and you did well to get your steps in.

All the best Jan

I play Mexican Train monthly with some good friends, and we've gotten quite competitive. I was next to the winner last week :) Lowest score was well under 200, like 132 or something. We also play on our yearly beach trip. I do prefer it to monopoly!!
