Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A Warm Up

🌻     🌻     🌻
We are having a  warm up and this morning it was 41 degrees when I headed
out the door.  Even though it was warm there were still patches of ice
around so I had to be careful walking.  Not enough ice to warrant wearing
my ice grippers on my shoes though.  Nice just being able to walk in
regular walking shoes.

I walked through town and up Sale Barn Road almost to the end.
Stopped short of the end because I didn't want to take a change encountering
the mean dogs.  The picture above is up at the top of Barn Sale.
This picture below is on my way to the top.
The sky on the way to the top of Sale Barn.
Walked back down to the main road, down toward Happy Trails a ways,
back to town, around one of the cemeteries and then back towards home.
As you can see our snow is gone once again.
No one else about but
Lena was driving by in the car and stopped to talk to me.
Told me about the senior fitness center and said I'd stop in and check it out.

Walked 6.2 miles
🌻     🌻     🌻
Just before I got home I stopped in at the fitness center to check it out.  Figure this
was just as good a time as any and I knew that Lena would be there.
It is just a block away from my house and actually I posted a picture of the
building a while ago.  It is the building that was once the school and has a few apartments and is where 'the dog' lives.
It is pretty nice.  Has treadmills, bikes, steps machine, weights, and some other
equipment.  I thought it would be a good place for me to go to on those
days when it is just too cold to walk outside.
It just costs $20 a month and you can use everything.
Also includes any classes you want to take.
So I signed up and next Wednesday morning I start an Exercise Ball Class.
You do exercises using giant balls (provided).
Seems like it would be a lot of fun and I'm sure lots of laughter.
I'm sure I'll have pictures next week.

Puttering around home today doing a bit of this and that.
I thought I'd have fun today and clean tomorrow.
Finished the baby blanket last night.
It's book club day so and I'll be walking to the library in a little while for that.
Ken will pick me up as usual and we will go to church.
We had the sun shining for a little while and then it was mostly cloudy
and now it has started to rain and still in the 40's.

A smile from me to you.

Well if anyone will get her money's worth at that fitness center you will. That's not a bad fee for all the equipment and classes. The baby blanket is lovely!

The senior fitness center sounds nice. Carroll has now finished his physical therapy, but we started this month going to the same facility to just use the equipment. Carroll uses a lot of different machines, but since I'm just getting started I've just been using the treadmill. He goes every day, but I just go three days a week. They have a family plan which makes it nice for us.

The baby blanket is so pretty. I love how colorful it is! You do such nice work, Karen.

Hi Karen, sounds like you had a great day. We are in a mild spell too with almost all of our snow gone. You are right, it is wonderful to walk in regular running shoes instead of boots.
Enjoy your ball class!

Sounds like you had a nice day. A senior fitness center sounds like a great place to work out on days when the weather is bad. So nice that it is close to your house.

So glad that you can use the fitness center on those days when it is not good to be out...far better than doing laps in the basement. I've heard that those balls are good for one's central core and balance. I'd probably wind up on the floor. This is a crazy up and down winter. My back deck is completely clear of snow and ice. Wish that I could say the same for the driveway. It will be in the 40s and rainy all day tomorrow. Weird.

Beautiful baby blanket! I love the color combination. That's great to have the senior fitness center so near your home. $20 is a great investment for all they offer. It looks so bleak there with your snow gone.

Congrats on joining the Fitness Center... You will enjoy it I'm sure.... I understand about it being too cold to walk sometimes....

We are also thawing out here. They are calling it the January Thaw... And it is amazing that it was almost ZERO a few days ago and today I have a couple of windows opened and it is almost 60 degrees... ha ha

Hugs,
Betsy

Good for you joining a new ball exercise class. Can't wait to see photos and hear all about it. I have tried the ball before it really helps with your balance. Enjoy!
