Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Quilt Barn Squares (10,11, and 12)

Linking up again this Monday with Tom for the Barn Collective Series.
These three Star Barn Quilts are at the Farm of
Leonard Custer and Dixie Ashby in Swanton, Maryland on North Glade Road.

This third star I don't have a picture of the barn that it is on.
It was really more of a shed.
🚜     🚜     🚜     🚜
33 degrees this morning and NOT DARK. 😊
Nice to be walking in the light and have the sun shinning not long after I started.
I walked around the ball park loop first and then
the two cemeteries and then through town and down toward HT.
Turned around and came back through town and home.

Pretty quiet around town this morning and didn't see anyone else out walking.

Walked 6.3 miles
Found a penny
🚶     🚶     🚶     🚶
Ken went up to Happy Trails and I stayed home.
Did some cleaning
laundry
and got a meatloaf started in the slow cooker.

In the afternoon I went outside and started raking leaves.  I raked them onto
a tarp and then dragged the tarp to the yard waste pile in the back yard.
Made a good start after a couple of hours but still have a lot to do.

I got a little time to read before Ken came home and then
made some mashed potatoes and beets to go with the meatloaf for supper.

I know most people don't like the dark early evenings
but I think they make for cozy evenings for
reading or knitting around the fire.
The evenings seem longer and once it is dark I don't feel
like I have to be 'doing something' so it is a relaxing time of day.
I like having the time back to normal and wish there was no such thing
as daylight savings time.
A happy day to you.

Raking Leaves
I raked the leaves on our front lawn;
It took all afternoon.
I started 'round half past one
and said, "I'll be done soon."

But once I saw how more leaves fell
Each time I made a pile,
I quickly saw this outdoor chore
Was going to take a while.

And so I did what my dad said
A winner does to win:
I studied that great pile of leaves,
And then I jumped right in.

I am wondering if you might give us a glimpse of your downtown area? The surrounding are is always a treat to see, but it would be fun to see what the shopping area looks like. Ignore this request if you'd rather not. I understand.

I agree about the time. I enjoy the dark evenings. It is so nice to just slow down for a bit.

Wow...three! Finding one is a treat, three is a triple treat. You certainly have a lovely quilt barn collection in your area, lucky you. Thanks for stopping by this week, I hope to see you again soon.

I just love the quilting barns. I have a print that I framed and hung up in my dining area. It is of a quilt barn and has an Amish buggy next to it. It is so pretty. It's called "The Quilt Barn". I enjoy the earlier darkness. Like you, it feels cozy and signals that it's time to relax and settle in for the night. Have a good evening.

There's a chance that they will do away with daylight savings time. I've read that a number of people are against it..MJ

Such beautiful quilts! How do you know where they are?
It is great that it is lighter in the mornings now. I am with you, I enjoy it getter darker earlier. Like you I don't feel compelled to be busy if it is dark already!

I can imagine how much nicer it is for you to be back to walking in the morning light.
Dinner sounds yummy. I rarely make meatloaf, but did have some at Cracker Barrel the other day.

I agree I don't mind the early dark. It is part of the changing season and I enjoy the longer evenings.
