Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Busy Day

🚜     🚜     🚜     🚜
50 degrees when I headed out this morning and sunny once the sun was up.
Beautiful walking weather.  🚶

I started walking around the Farm Loop but turned around and went back the way I came when I saw those yippy little dogs out in the yard.  Though they are small there are 6 of them.  One time they all came out jumping on me and one nipped me on my  leg.  Not bad but it did bleed.  They are usually in the house and aren't a problem.

Once back to town I walked around there and then headed down toward Happy Trails a ways before turning around and walking back to town.  Continued round the cemeteries, another loop around town and back home again.

I saw four deer and two rabbits.  I always see a lot of crows but I think I've been seeing the same one on the way to HT.  He has a distinctly different caw than the others.

Two animals didn't make it across the road today.  A opossum and a rabbit.

Very quiet around town.  More like a Sunday morning.
Kathy and I didn't cross paths today but I did see her car in the parking lot.

Some old buildings in town.
Walked 6.5 miles

Made some cole slaw first thing this morning so the flavors would blend.

While I did that Ken fiddled around with the lawn mower and got it fixed.
It needed some adjustment to the front wheel so it wouldn't keep going to the one side.  So with that fixed I mowed the lawn.  Had to do some raking too because the grass was long and left piles of it behind.  Just got the big stuff up.

Got cleaned up and left with the cole slaw to go to a BBQ we were invited to for Labor Day at our friends house Debbie and Ron.
Lots of good food to eat.
Betty and I went on a mile walk around the path which was right next to the house.
I played a game of Corn Hole and also a game of table shuffle board.
It was a fun afternoon.

I walked around my yard and took a few pictures of some of the flowers blooming.

 In a little while we will be heading out to church.
There is a guest speaker tonight and also a family who will be singing some of the old favorite hymns I love to sing.

When we get back home there will still be time to watch a Netflix show
while I have my ice cream snack and make a few more weave-its.

A happy day to you.

"Flowers have an expression of countenance as much as men or animals.
Some seem to smile;
some have a sad expression;
some are pensive and diffident;
others again are plan, honest and upright,
like the broad-faced sunflowers and the hollyhock."

You've certainly had a busy day.
I love your first photo, the way the light works in it, is just lovely.
Nice to see all your flowers too, a very good selection of colours.

So pleased that Ken was able to get the lawn mower fixed.

Take Care

All the best Jan

Happy Labor Day. Some animals just have a hard time crossing a road and living to tell about it. Here it is armadillos. The joke goes..."Why did the chicken cross the road?" Answer: "To show the armadillo it could be done." I imagine you could insert just about any animal in there. Glad you got the mower fixed. Have a great evening.

My lawn mower has been giving me issues. It gets stuck a lot especially when I've let the grass get too long. It took me about a week and half to cut it this time. Had to work in sections and call it quits. I wish wild animals would come along and feed on the lawn and scatter when I came outside.

Ouch! Those little dogs need to be kept inside if they are going to be biting you!! Your day sounds like great fun, aside from that encounter! Our high temp here today was 90 degrees, so true fall temps are going to be awhile arriving. You have a way of making every moment count! - xo Nellie

Sounds like a great day! Whilst on vacation we bought the corn hole game as we have only seen it in the States. It's a fun game for the family.

I also love to see your flower photos! I have a couple of ferocious chihuahuas that go into attack mode whenever I go by so I've stopped going that direction. Pesky nips are one thing but drawing blood is another! I love those old hymn sings. Our church uses the more modern songs most of the time but still puts in the old classics too which I appreciate. Have a great day.

Sounds like a great cool relaxing day you had. Unfortunatly I had to work half the day but on my walk later, I noticed it was very quite on the road but were a lot of dogs out barking. I guess the owners let them out since they were home for the holiday.

You still have lots of color in your garden. The sun was too much for a lot of ours. Monday was the perfect-weather day to work in the yard. I deadheaded and removed spent flowers in the wildflower bed, allowing more light into the few flowers that appear to want to bloom again--mostly Indian Blankets and a few Cosmos.
