Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Cabin Work

These two pictures I took yesterday from my front porch.
This one is about 8:15 in the evening.
Can you see the moon up there as well?
This one taken earlier in the day.
The clouds were super amazing all afternoon.
 ✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
This morning was another 72 degree one with no breeze and sunny, at least for a little while.  Then the clouds started moving in.  The sky behind me was a bright sunny blue.
Soon there was no sun to be seen at all.
I walked all around town with no special route in mind.
Pretty quite around town but I did see Rebecca walking her little white dog.
I looked up a lot at the changing sky.
I felt a couple of drops of rain and heard some thunder so I headed for home.
At first the rain was gentle and as the road started to get wet it had that summer rain smell.  Oh I love that smell.
But it wasn't long before the clouds let go of the rain and boy did it come down.
I was drenched by the time I reached home.
It sure cooled me off.
I would have walked all 6 miles if it was just raining but with the thunder I didn't.
I ended up walking only 5 miles.

After breakfast we headed up to Happy Trails to get some work done.
We put up plywood in the kitchen area.
Just to the left we started to put up wood panels in the bedroom area.
The lights that will be above the bed are installed too.
And another panel we put up on the back wall.
Still have lots more to do but feel like we got a very good start on the inside now.
I thought we would have gotten more done today, but it takes a lot more time than you think.
Here's a close up of the paneling.
Paneling has come a long way and this stuff really does look like boards.
I went to a wedding shower this evening for Elizabeth, one of the young woman from church.  She is getting married in Oct and will be moving to Texas.
The shower was lovely and I had a very nice time.
Really glad I went.

And so another day comes to and end.
It's been a good one.
Hope your day was a happy one.

Your cabin looks fantastic! I love the kitchen sink. Your cloud photos are incredible! So glad you enjoyed the wedding shower. I haven't been to one in a long time.

What a charming cabin you are building. I'm a new follower so this is my first visit to the cabin. I'm going to travel back through some of your posts and find an outdoor photo of it. We got rained on the other day on our walk, too. We live in the desert and rain is a blessing . . . it sure felt good on a hot summer morning :)

Hello, gorgeous sky shots. I love to watch the storm clouds. The cabin is looking wonderful. We had a thunderstorm last evening and lots of rain. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Interesting to see all of the different ways the sky looked in the course of a day.
The cabin is really taking shape now. The paneling has come a long way from what it used to be. I like the one you chose. It looks just right.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Thanks for the peek into Happy Trails. It's going to be quite the place when finished. I love to look at the sky and see what is going on. Beautiful cloud formations and I like to see storms coming.

The panelling fooled me. Happy Trails is really coming on, what a lot of work you both have put into it. Thanks for sharing.

The cabin is so cute! It's like one of those tiny houses but not that tiny.

That sink is the one Ken got at the sale/action he usually goes to on Friday mornings. He got it for just a few dollars.

Happy Trails is like our own personal park. It will be so nice to have the cabin up there too. I think it would be lovely to spend Christmas there.

The paneling is really something. I keep thinking I'm going to get splinters from the wood. : ) It is a lot of work but fun work. A great retirement project. : )

Oh, I so like the quote you've used in your post ... dare I say it may well be true too ... the older I get I avoid puddles, whereas the grandchildren jump straight in! With great big smiles :)

Great photo's the colours in the sky are magnificent

All the best Jan

We saw some pretty amazing clouds returning home from out daughter's house. Several were like tall, skinny pillars. Quite unusual. Happy Trails is really coming along. Yes, I do know how long it takes to see progress! Too long!
