Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A nightly visitor

Jodie, a friend from church is about to have a baby girl
at the end of this month.
Right now the baby is breech and they are hoping
she will turn around on her own.
Those of you who pray I'm asking if you would please pray
that the baby will get in the right position to be born.
Thanks so much.  I'll keep you posted.

We had a good soaking rain during the night and woke up to a sunny morning and 68 degrees  with a nice cool breeze.

I walked the Farm Loop.  A nice quiet peaceful walk.  The corn is getting so big now that I can't see down into town walking along side the corn.

I saw the goats again up on the porch, chickens were walking in the yard, the dog was chained up and a few cats walked around.  The pigs and the cows were in the front pasture.

Once back to town I made a loop around town and a loop around the ball park.

Walked 6.4 miles.

This building in town is where the bakery used to be.  It went out of business I guess it's been well over a year now.  A lady in town bought the building and now there is a for rent sign in the window.
A little fantasy of mine is open up a bakery there of my own. It would be fun to freshen it up with a fresh coat of paint.  I'd put a couple of small tables inside and maybe one outside too.  Then get busy baking and selling goodies.  It could just be open a few days a week.  Still it would be a lot of work but it could be really fun. : )

We've been having a visitor during the night coming to feast on bird seed in our back
yard.  We suspected a bear and the other night I heard it about 3:00 in the morning.  I woke Ken up and we watched it for about 10 minutes.  It took down the feeder and rolled it along the ground getting the seed out.  After watching a while we clapped our hands and the bear ran off.  Now I've been taking the feeders in at night.  It was really cool to watch a bear in our own back yard.  : )  Ken set up the game camera so we got a picture of it.  Not a very good picture but you can see that it IS a bear.

Did a few things around the house and then went outside and weeded the daisy garden out front.  Then it was lunch time.  After lunch I did a bit of reading.  Wanted to have some energy left for when Ken came home mid afternoon because we planned to go up to Happy Trails for a while.  Which we did and I got to crush some more rocks.  : )
Here is the pile of rocks we collected.  I didn't get all of them in the rock crusher but I did crush three piles like what is up on the deck.
So that's been my day.
Hope your day was a happy one.

Saw the bear in your yard eating bird seed! To me, that's scary, but I'm not as brave and adventurous as you are. You and Ken are such hard workers, but you seem to enjoy it. The little bakery building is cute, but as you said, it could represent a lot of work. Take care.

Oh yes, praying for Jodie's baby. I was breech birth. My mother said it was hard on her. Of course, that was a very long time ago!

my brother came in feet first. Which caused a c-section. Thus me and my other brother were going to have to be c sections too.

My wife apparently came into the world the same way like my brother.

Point of the story, I'm really glad women have the babies

A bear in your backyard! That's rather exciting!

Wow - that is really something to have a bear in your backyard! Praying for your friend. Opening a little bakery does sound like fun, but also quite a lot of work. Enjoy what's left of the week!

A bear, Wow! I live in the city and we used to have a fox visit regularly which was unusual. Be careful out there when you go for walks. Keep a few fire crackers in your pocket incase one aproaches you.

A bear - exciting but scary too!

Hello, wonderful photos. I even like the bear, they seem to spook easily. We had a bear sighting 10 miles from our house this week. The bakery idea sounds great. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!

You could make that building into such a cute little bakery! The picture of the bear is great! We had no idea there were any bears around here until one pulled my husband's game camera off the tree during deer season. When we looked at the pictures there was a close up shot of the bear's face and one of his paw. We were really shocked!

The bears scare very easily, just a clap of the hands and it was gone.

There are more breech babies than I realized!
Oh it's not so bad having a baby. : )

Yes, it was. It was fun watching it for a while.

Glad we got a picture of the bear.
Thanks for the prayers.
Bakery just a fantasy, but I think about it every time I walk past. : )

I think the bears are just as afraid of people as we of them. They run off quickly when you clap your hands.

I can just picture the inside of it too. It would have a retro look.

happyone said...

Not really scary because they frighten so easily. Just a load noise sends them on their way.

Yes, the bears do spook easily. I know we have them up at HT too but I've never seen on except on a video and I walk all over there.

The inside of the bakery I'd give it a retro look. Maybe if I win the lottery I'll give it a go. : ) Then I won't have to worry if I make any money.

Oooh a bear!! Maybe I wouldn't like to wander around your yard, scary!
I hope yor friend delivers her baby safely and I'm sure she will have some beautiful baby blankets.
Have a wonderful weekend :)

Bears are not really scary. They are just as afraid of you. At least the black bears that are around here. Just clapping your hands together makes them run away.

That is a great picture of the bear! I think your bakery would be a great success. You're such a good baker. And let me know if you need any extra cookies! Have a lovely weekend :)

will pray for them both

Hoping the baby will turn before time for her to make her grand entrance...:)
A bakery (or a cute thrift shop) would be fun...but it surely would tie you down, even if open only a few hours a day or a few days a week...you still have to be there. I've always wanted a really cute thrift shop and now would be a good time for me...but...too much money involved.

Will pray for the baby Karen.
Goodness gracious, a bear! That is rather scary. The most wild animal we get around here is a raccoon!
I would be a frequent customer if you opened a bakery!

I think of you and your cookies when I think about the bakery. : ) Wouldn't it be nice if we lived near each other and we could do it together. If I'm dreaming I might as well dream big!! : )

Thank you so much.

happyone said...

Yes, that's why it is just a fantasy. : )

Bears keep pretty well hidden and they scare easily, as the least the black bears around here.
Thanks for the prayers.

I like your idea of a bakery. All country towns need their own bakery I think. They are so important, along with the butcher, newsagent and bank. We have quite a few empty shops in town. I dream of a opening a gallery... showcasing local artists and photographers. Not sure that it would get enough traffic to make it a worthwhile venture though.

I love your bakery dream!

Your posts are always so interesting. I love your farmland photos, they are so pretty. I've started walking about a month ago and do 3 miles each morning (6 days a week) I can't image doing over 6 miles, but then I'm not a young woman anymore :) Your dream of having your own bakery sounds wonderful, I think that if you can financially do it, you should. Dreams were made to come true. I'm praying for your friend, and I think that it is sweet that you asked for prayer in her behalf. There is nothing that we can do for those we love that is any better than prayer.
Have a lovely weekend,
Connie :)

I love the way you link in your photo's and they are always a great variety, but this time you've excelled!
A bear that's amazing.

Special thoughts for your friend - hope all goes well with the baby.

All the best Jan

It is fun to dream. : )

Thank you. My bakery is more a fantasy than an actual dream. Glad to hear you started walking. I started in 1988 and still going strong. : )
Thank you for the prayers.

The bear is cool.....but the coolest is the rock smasher, really? I am so amazed....I live on rocks....I need a new road base....I think I need a rock smasher! You and Ken are incredible! :)

The rock crusher is really cool. We have so many plans with rocks now. Happy Trails has a never ending supply of rocks. I love this machine. : )
Yes, wouldn't a bakery be fun!!

A part-time bakery sounds like fun! Wow! A bear! I don't know what I'd do if a bear visited!

Cool photo of the bear. They are highly motivated by any type of food. We don't have bears in our neighborhood but not too far from us, I'm sure a few roam. I see them maybe every 15 hikes.

A bear! Acckkk... I don't think that they limit themselves to nightime activity. Watch out for them!

Your rock crusher fascinates me. I know that you love it!

Oh my gosh!! I can't believe that bear was so close to your house. Yikes, that would be a little too close for my comfort. Neat that you got to see it on the game camera though.
That little building would make the cutest bakery. What fun it would be to decorate it in a vintage theme and I know that you would keep the cookie supply going.
