Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A good days work

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
70 degrees this morning with patches of fog which gave way to sunshine later during my walk.  It was on the humid side too without any breeze.  It was the first morning that I was really hot.  We don't get many warm mornings like that.

I didn't walk any of my mapped out routes but just walked all over the place with no idea where I was going till I got there.

Saw a big black snake on the side of the road but it was dead.  I know most people don't like snakes but this one is a good one and eats all mice that we don't like in our houses.

This is a field of soy beans that I walked past as I walked around one of the cemeteries.
Walked 6.4 miles.
Great morning for finding coins.   Found THREE quarters.

When I got back from walking, Ken was in the back yard already hard at work on the stone patio and by lunch time he had the patio finished.  I love the way it turned out and think he did a wonderful job with it.  We need to do a bit of clean up around it and hopefully we will do that tomorrow and if we do I'll post pictures of the finished project tomorrow.

After lunch we headed up to Happy Trails and got to work crushing rocks. These rocks will be used for the next phase of back yard work which I'll tell you about as we do it.  As I crush the rocks Ken shovels them into buckets.  Here is the truck with a load ready to bring home.

The cucumber and zucchini plants in my garden are growing very well and going all over the place.  No zucchinis yet but there are blossoms.  Cucumbers have started but haven't picked any yet.

We've had a couple of brief thunder storms this afternoon and the clothes that I had drying on the line got soaked from one storm, but then they dried and I saved them from the next one. : )

It's been a good day and we got some good work done.
Hope your day has been a happy one.

A very nice top photo Karen, I love the way the light works in it ...

Your garden vegetables really seem to be doing well. I'm sure they will taste great too.

All the best Jan

The clothes must smell so good when they are dried on the line. I used to love that smell.

75 cents! Sounds like a lucrative walk. :) I'm interested in seeing the photos of your stone patio. My neighbor has been doing something similar with red patio stones. Happy Trails is coming along. Have a great day.

oooh I'm looking forward to see your finished patio, how exciting. Your vegetable patch looks very neat and tidy.
Lovely atmospheric image of the road and the fog.
Have a great day :)

Thank you. I think I may have planted too many plants in each section, but I should have lots of veggies. : )

Oh they do. I love the smell of lined dried clothes too. I don't even own a dyer!

I'm looking forward to seeing the finished patio. I know a lot of hard work has gone into it.
75 cents is a fun find. I found a penny on the start of our recent vacation and jokingly told Brett I was going to find enough to cover the cost of the trip. Good thing I was only joking as it was the only money I found.
Your garden is coming along nicely. How nice it will be to enjoy the fresh picked veggies.

I wish it was just 70 here. My house is usually around 80. We keep the AC on "easy mode" that way the power bill won't murder us at the end of the month

I LOVE your photo at the top of the post of the curving gravel road -- the level of clarity that changes so gradually from the individual pieces of shiny gravel in the foreground, all the way to the hazy fog in the distance -- that's just great! Plus, 75 cents isn't too bad for a morning walk :) Pretty soon your cukes and such will be covering up those walks, but the garden sure looks beautiful.

You can't buy much for a penny anymore. : )
I picked 3 cucumbers this afternoon!!

We don't even use AC. We have it but haven't used it since we moved here 3 years ago.

I put all the coins I find in old glass banks. : )

Picked 3 cukes this afternoon. : )
