Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Sun and rain and a day outside

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿

62 degrees this morning with a mix of sun and clouds.  A couple of times the sky got pretty dark but then it was sunny again.  Not much of a breeze this morning.

I walked the Farm Loop.  Saw George on his bike and he told me he saw a bear  when he was on his bike along the road up farther that goes around the mountain.  The bear just ran off when it spotted him.

When I got back to town I walked up along Sale Barn just a little ways.  A few of the cows were back in the field.  These two were butting heads and ignored me as I walked by.
Made a loop around the ball park before walking back home.
Walked 6.2 miles.

We had a special treat for breakfast this morning.  I made us blueberry pancakes.  I like having milk to drink with my pancake and I had a nice big glass.

I was planning on cleaning the house today but ended up outside all day.  Ken worked on the stone patio and the end is now in sight.
While he did that I did more weeding.  I also planted the rest of the lettuce, tomatoes, and bell peppers.  Harvested some more rhubarb too.
I had laundry drying out on the line when it clouded up and Ken was the first to feel the rain drops.  I took the clothes in and hung them inside.  Then we took a break and went to Subway and got subs for lunch.  There was a light rain yet when we got back home but that soon ended and the sun came out again.  I ended up hanging some of the clothes back outside to finish drying.
I continued to do a little more weeding and Ken went up to HT to get some more flat rocks for the patio.

For supper I cooked up some bell peppers and onions and we had them in burrito shells with rice and a little bit of sour cream.  Haven't made them in quite some time but they are easy to make and very tasty.
Now I'm looking forward to my ice cream later this evening.

So that's been my day.
A happy day to you.

Now that sounds a good day to me.
We too have had a mixture of sun and showers, but the gardens like it and the vegetables certainly do. You've planted a good mix, and that rhubarb looks delicious.

All the best Jan

I had some blueberry pancakes the other day. Nothing like them! The rhubarb looks like it needs to be combined with some strawberries and put into a pie! Have a great day.

Yikes, I think I'd prefer to see the farm animals rather than bears.
The patio is looking really nice. You'll get a lot of enjoyment from it, I'm sure.
How wonderful to have fresh picked rhubarb. That's hard to come by in this area. I remember my grandma grew it in Michigan. When we were kids we would put sugar on our hand and dip the stalk in before biting into it. Kind of like a sweet tart taste. Now I'd prefer eating it in a strawberry/rhubarb crisp or pie.

Oh how I love Rhubarb... Haven't had any in a long long time. My mother used to make rhubarb --and it was wonderful... I also had some rhubarb pie once when we were traveling.... YUM....

Your patio is looking good. George made a little stepping stone walk area between a couple of flowerbeds --where he couldn't mow. I love it.

Hugs,
Betsy

Cows do seem to be like "meh" when they see humans. If only they knew about hamburgers and steakhouses. They'd be rising in revolt.
