Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Back Home

We've been out of town the last several days and got back last night.  After my doctor's appointment we headed up to see my mom and dad in upstate NY.

Didn't really find out anything about my feet.  But a few things were ruled out.  The good news is that my feet have a strong pulse and the circulation is good.  The next step is to get some blood work done.

It was good to get up to see my Mom and Dad but at the same time a sad trip up too.  Arrangements have been started for my Mom to go into a nursing home as soon as possible.  I am sad to say that my Dad has cancer and is no longer able to care for my Mom.

Vickie and George who are friends of my parents, who live 1/2 mile down the road have been such a blessing in helping them.  They have a house on the lake and also have a cabin that they rent out for vacationers that was empty and let us stay there and we didn't have to pay a thing.  It was nice to just be able to walk back and forth from the cabin to my parents house.

I've gotten very close with Vickie these last few days.  She is my age and my Mom thinks of her as daughter and we now think of ourselves as adopted sisters.
She is a walker too and we went on a few walks together. : )
I took this picture standing outside of the cabin we stayed at.
That's all I have time for right now.
Be back tomorrow.
A happy day to you.

Thanks for the update. It's good to know you back home safe and sound. That is a beautiful view from the cabin. It's wonderful that you've made a new friend. I'm sure she will keep you informed about your folks. So sorry for this sad turn of events.

That is a difficult situation...you know what it reminds me of. This I know, no one ever goes into nursing care alone and no one ever walks through an illness alone. I will be praying for both your mom and your step-dad that life will be good and that they will both have everything that they need. Their neighbors sound like very special folks. How good of them to let you stay in such a beautiful spot.

So glad that your report was good and I am praying that the blood tests will be good, too. Just praying that The Lord heals the problem and that it is completely resolved.

May the lord bless you. It's hard to see your parents suffer. I know that. But there One that hold our times in his hand. I flee to Him with my worry about them. You too. I am sure. But learn to let go hurts.

Beautiful photo. Love the reflection!

Upstate NY? that's a long drive

but understandable given your parents situation. Nursing homes never sound fun. My neighbor went to one and only lasted a few months

What a beautiful lake! I'm sorry about your parents' failing health. It is so hard having elderly parents who live far away. I understand. May you have peace as you go through this part of life's rocky path.

What a blessing to have friends who are so special. Hoping your mother is doing well in the nursing home and that your feet are doing better.
