Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Saturday

Walking past these hay rolls with a dusting of snow made me think of shredded wheat.
Mega Shredded Wheat

24 degrees this morning with  snow flurries.  Didn't want to walk in the basement again so gave it a try outside.  Quite a lot of ice around but enough places to walk so it wasn't a problem.

Walked up and down the main road outside of town, then around town a bit and around both cemeteries.  Too much ice to walk around the ball park loop.

Not much activity around town early Saturday morning.  Passing by the town pond on my way up to the cemetery I spotted a couple of ducks in the cold water.
This is looking toward town half way up the road to the cemetery.
Wasn't much of a wind when I started out but it picked up a bit by the time I got back home.
Walked 6.2 miles.

Home during the day and I spent most of it reading The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls which is about her and her three siblings growing up with a less than ideal mom and dad.  Wow what a childhood they had.  It is a very good book and sure makes you thankful for even the most simple things.  It is the selection for the book club next month.

It has gotten up to near 40 and is sunny so a lot of the snow and ice has melted.

Heading out this evening over to Tricia and Randy's house for dinner and a game night of Mexican Train.  : )

A happy day to you and hope you smiled often.

Adam - Uno does have pizza but many many other foods too.  Their menu is like a book!!  I in fact did have pizza. : )  Ken and Kathy both had Chicken Parmesan.

Kerri - No, I haven't read any of those books but they sound like ones I would like.  I've put them on my list.  : )  Thanks!

Wonderful you got outside for your walk. We have been warm here these past few days so all of our snow has melted. Hope you had fun last night!
The top photo does look like Shredded Wheat!

I do see the likeness to shredded wheat in the hay bales. I think they are of the frosted variety.
I read The Glass Castle several years ago and enjoyed it. So hard to believe how sad and difficult some people's childhoods are.
Hope you had a great time last night.

We are at 63F right now. This morning it was somewhat cold. Enough to freeze over my car windows

I have had Glass Castles on my to read list for a long time - time to get it out and read it! Maybe you and I should send copies of the book to some of our children so they can better appreciate the kind of family they grew up in ;-) I agree that the bales of hay do look like shredded wheat. Your pictures look so cold, I am going to put on my sweater now. We are going to be in the low 90s this week. Have a good one!

The miles you walk are amazing. And inspiring. And the hay really looks like shredded wheat. Have a good day.

Those bales do look like shredded wheat! The wind makes a lot of difference in whether the day is hospitable for walking outdoors.
