Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A cardinal

☃     ☃     ☃     ☃
It's still snowing and this morning I had to walk in the basement.  Walked 6 miles in three different times, 3 miles, 2 miles and 1 mile throughout the day.
It was 19 degrees outside and though I do walk in the snow, some days it just seems better to be inside.  The snow is deep enough now that I can't wear my hiking boots and the snow plows are out and I spend my time trying to stay out of their way.  It just seems safer not to go outside walking.

Made a loaf of bread. I had two pieces with butter and strawberry preserves for my lunch.
I did get to go outside for a while after lunch for some fresh air.  Ken used the snow blower to clear off the driveway and I shoveled the walkway to the front door.  Then just walked around the yard.  Like to walk in the newly fallen snow and make tracks. : )

When Ken was done with the driveway we took a little walk around town and went to the library.  Dropped off a book and learned that my book club meeting tonight was cancelled.  We will discussing this months book next month so I won't have to read a book club book this month.
I took the cardinal shots in my backyard.

The puzzle is coming along pretty good.  Here's what we have done so far.
This evening it is still snowing.  We had a break from the snow in the middle of the day for about an hour or so.
I have a feeling that it will be another walk in the basement tomorrow but we shall see.
A happy day to you.

Hmmm...a snowy day and bread...dangerous combination. Those red jay photos are so pretty. (See Judy's Cranberry Morning for an explanation on that. ☺) I am always impressed with your puzzle skills. It will be finished before long now.

Beautiful bird pictures!
I am in BC Canada and not many cardinals but lots of blue jays and stellar jays here

What a stunning shot of the red cardinal.
You must be so fit from all your walking in the snow!
Prefer home made bread. Tastes so much nicer and you know exactly what's in it. Stay warm Happy One :)

Oh your cardinal is gorgeous! You know they hold a special place in my heart :) We are in for some very cold weather this weekend... but I hear the next weekend we could be in the 60s :)

I always love see red cardinals against a snowy backdrop. So pretty. It does sound like a safer "route" to walk in your basement. The puzzle is coming along nicely. Have a great day.

I love your shots of the cardinals in the snow. Such a pretty sight.
Indoor walking does sound like the safer way to go with that amount of snow.
Your loaf of bread is so nicely shaped and was, no doubt, delicious.
The puzzle is looking great.

Hi Karen, I love your cardinal shots! You finally have other birds at your feeder instead of just crows.
Your bread looks yummy.
We still haven't had much snow but we are in the deep freeze now. We went for our walk this morning in triple layers but my face still was cold.
Have a good day!

Your Cardinal looks so pretty in the snow. I see he has a Dark-eyed Junco keeping him company. We have quite a few of those visiting this winter. It sounds like walking inside was a better option today. More winter on the way for us, too. I love to smell bread baking.
