Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Snow Snow and Snow

☃     ☃     ☃     ☃
I walked 3 miles in the basement while a load of clothes was in the washer before breakfast and never went back for another walk.

We spent a lot of time walking around the house and looking at the snow from different windows and was amazed at how much snow kept coming down.

Ken went out in the morning to clear off the driveway with the snow blower for the first time today.  He was out there a couple of hours.

After lunch we both went outside and Ken cleared the driveway once again and I shoveled the front sidewalk but mostly just walked around taking pictures.  Here's one Ken took of me standing in the snow.  The last time I measured there was 29 inches and it is still snowing.
When I first went outside I put on the pair of snow shoes that Ken got at an auction, tried walking in the snow and immediately fell and couldn't get up.  It was pretty funny and Ken had to help me up.
Looking up main street from in front of my house.
 The back yard
The picnic bench

Maybe we should have flown south!!
I got my wish for a lot of snow. : )  I like it and it sure is pretty but it can stop any time now!!

Hope your day as been a happy one.

Winter came down to our home one night
Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow,
And we were children once again.

What fun it would be to fall in snow like that! Unless I couldn't get up. LOL You certainly got your wish for snow. Have a warm night.

We got our first real snow instead of ice/sleet this morning. Then the sun came out and melted the crap off the roads. Which is awesome.

Wow!! You sure did get your wish. I hope it doesn't go on for too much longer or you will disappear out there.
It sure does look pretty in all of your pictures.
I had to laugh at the bird's conversation.

Wow!! You really got a lot of snow. It has been snowing all day here and I think we must have at least 20 inches, and it is still snowing. they said it should stop by morning, then we will get the snow blower out. Have just been shoveling the walks, so we can get the dogs out. Rusty likes the snow, but Laila has to be pulled out of the house when it is snowing.

Wow - that is some snow storm. What a change from your warm Christmas weather! We have heard about it out here. Can't say that I am envious. We are up to about 70 here in AZ today. Enjoy your cozy weekend.

We had a lot of snow too. Just came back in after cleaning the cars for the second time. Stay safe out there.

We are coming in at just under four feet, Karen! It has finally stopped snowing now. Our road has been so nice and quiet all day with it not being opened up yet. I love it! Carroll saw on the weather channel earlier that there is the possibility of another storm like this one coming through again on the 28th! :)

You guys stay safe and warm!

I'm sure those birds want it to stop snowing too, those poor things. That is quite a bit! ;) Stay safe!

That is a lot of snow! Has everything come to a standstill? Were the snowplows able to get through at all? I've never been in a snowfall of more than about 16 inches.

Yes, you got your snow, and lots of it! Can't remember ever getting 29"! Hope it does stop soon, and you enjoy it while it lasts.

Hello, sounds like you have more snow than we do. I think we have about 21 inches. I love the photos and the birds. This enough enough snow for me, it can go away now. Happy Sunday, enjoy your new week ahead!

Wow---that is amazing... I love snow too--and we got about 6 inches.... Got two inches last Wed. --and then added a bunch more on Fri/Sat..... That's not nearly as much snow as you have --but it was enough for me to enjoy....

Gorgeous pictures... WOW.
Hugs,
Betsy

I have a correction to make...Carroll's calculating the amount of snow via the blocks on our fence wasn't totally accurate. He went out this morning to start shoveling us out and to get some of the snow off our roof. He measured while he was out and we had 31 inches NOT four feet. :) The state road went through this morning with the road scraper and cleared our road and traffic (via ATV's) has been picking up steadily.

What a huge amount of snow! More than we used to get in Maine! We got about half that here, maybe 15 inches, and that was plenty.

John asked me why you weren't using snowshoes, now I can tell him! If you get the hang of them, there's nowhere you can't go. I loved my vintage ones with the big paws and I like my newer LL Bean ones...wonder where they've gone. Beautiful pictures. I was trying to figure out how much snow you received my seeing how far buried in it you two were. Amazing. My sister's husband was stuck in West Virginia through the storm. Guess that they got 3.5 feet.
