Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Cookies

Ice starting on the little town pond.

This morning when I started walking it was a chilly 25 degrees and very still.  Walked over to the post office first and mailed off a Netflix and then walked a couple of miles and went to the Drane House at 7:30.  I met Sherry and a few other women there and we put out all the cookies for the cookie sale that is held every year from 9 - 2. We were hoping for a broken cookie or two so we could eat some but not one was broken.  It was really hard to look at all these cookies and not eat a one of them!!
I didn't stay to help with the sale and left at 8:50 and continued with the rest of my walk.  By then the sun was up and warming things up nicely.  As I walked up the hill and away from the Drane House a few cars were already arriving for the sale.  The cookies are usually sold out by 12:00.

Walked around the cemeteries and around town and passed the farm on the edge of town and then headed back home.
Again I didn't see anyone else out walking.
I walked 5.2 miles.

After lunch Ken and I went up to Happy Trails for a little while.  With all the rain haven't been up there much lately but Ken has been up doing inside work.  He got all the electric wiring finished.  He also put up these extra beams.  They will be good for hanging things from when it comes to decorate.  They are actually more support for the roof when it snows.
We got our old iron bed down from the attic of the tractor barn and put it in the cabin.  It needs to be repainted but we just wanted to see how it fit.  The bed platform isn't quite big enough so we have to extend it about 6 inches.
Ken put more of the pallet siding on.  It still needs to be painted, but we really like how it looks.
In the front there on the bottom where it sticks out a bit is for flowers and I thought some red geraniums might look nice there.
It was a beautiful sunny day and the temperature made it up in the 40's and it was so very still and calm.

In a little while we will be having spaghetti and a salad for supper.  I'm already hungry so maybe we will be eating a little early today. : )

Ken is fine and dandy today.  Thank you all for your concern. : )
Hope your day is sunny and bright.

It's looking colder down south there than it is here!

Look at all those cookies!! I'm sorry you weren't able to have a nibble :( Is Happy Trails going to be a summer home for you all? I do like the way the pallet slats look, nice job! :)

Today's first picture DOES look COLD! :-) And how did you manage to get out of there without eating any of those cookies? :-) I'm not sure I could have done that! :-) The cabin is looking great. Ken does some amazing work ... I like the way he is adding extra support to the roof. Your idea on the geraniums is perfect too!

Beautiful display of cookies! Drane House looks like a remarkable place as does your cottage at Happy Trails. I like the bed. It's going to be cozy there.
