Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Another rainy walk

A picture from last week when the sun was shining.

It was pretty warm at 48 degrees this morning when I walked but it poured down rain the whole time.  This is day number four of rain and it would be nice to see the sun again.  I did get to hear one of my thankful sounds though - rain drops on my rain slicker hood. : ) Would be nicer if all this rain was snow, at least it would be pretty to look at and I wouldn't get wet walking.  Even with my rain pants and slicker on, the rain managed to drip down my face down my neck and the front of my sweatshirt got wet.

Didn't take any pictures - didn't want to take my camera out of my pocket in the rain.

No one else was out walking or running this morning and I didn't even see any animals.  What I did see was lots of worms on the sidewalks everywhere.

I enjoyed my walk around town even in the rain.  A lot of times when it is raining I think I'll just go for a short walk but then when I get out there I change my mind.
Found a lucky penny. : )
Walked 5.8 miles.

I baked the last of the Welsh Cookies today for the cookie sale at the Drane House  taking place this Saturday.   Every year the cookies sell out in about 3 hours.

Walked over to the library for the Book Club meeting at 5:15.  Even though I didn't read the book I went anyway just to see everyone.
Ken picked me up and hour later and we headed out to church and afterwards stopped in Wal-mart to do a bit of shopping.

This day seemed to fly by as most of them do.
Hope your day has been a happy one.

Patti - When raining I wear my hiking shoes which keep my feet dry a little bit longer than my regular walking shoes.  But today my feet were soaked by the time I got home.  I've tried wearing a pair of rubbers over my shoes but it is just too awkward to walk fast in them.

Deb - Yes, game night is with our church friends - same group as the bowling.

Hope you get some sunshine soon. It is supposed to be fair and turning colder here today. You always seem cheerful, even in the rain. That's nice.

I have to agree, you are a dedicated walker to be out there in the rain. I use my treadmill. We finally have clear skies today.. Enjoy, have a great day!

I know a lot of people do the the book club all the time. I think it must be tiring to keep reading a big book month after month after month

We have been having a few days of dreary weather here too. But at least it has stayed mild.
Have a nice day!

We've had five inches of rain here from Sunday until Wednesday morning! Not good walking weather at all when that happens! Today is colder with lots of frost around, but there is also lots of sunshine, so that is a big help! You are a truly dedicated walker to walk in such rain!

Beautiful blue sky. It has been pretty gloomy here too. Saw a little sun yesterday, maybe it will come your way.

I don't get here every day, but I am here now with tea in hand ready to spend some happy time getting caught up. Today is our third day of rain and I am ready for the sun. We've had no snow, but we have a half-hearted promise of it for tonight.

Your did not romantisize that walk in the rain. In fact, you were so honest that I can't imagine how you stuck it out for 5.8 miles. =D

When it is raining hard, there is no way to stay totally dry and walk. That is when getting back to a warm dry house (instead of sleeping in a tiny, wet tent) is just fantastic.

Thanks! I was thinking to wear hiking boots, but wasn't sure how they'd feel on pavement. I found a pair of weatherproof walking shoes from Rockport online. Going to give those a try--if we have another "good" rain day. Hubby encouraged me to get a Lifeproof case (that I'd been putting off) for my phone after seeing the cracked screens on other's phones. I'll be able to take pictures in the rain--a new adventure!
