Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Day Eighteen of Thanks

Giving Thanks Day Post Eighteen
Teachers

If you can read this thank a teacher.
I am thankful for teachers.
Here are some teachers who were my favorites.

Mrs Butterfield was my kindergarten teacher
and I remember that first day when I called her Mrs Buttercup. : )
She was a favorite because she was my first one.

Mrs Claxton was my first grade teacher who taught me how to read.
What a wonderful day that was.
The day I could read everyone between school
and my house new about it.
My mother tells me I came running home down the street
one day from school yelling,
I can read, I can read.

Fourth grade was Mrs Merrick.
Learned my times tables in her class
and I enjoyed learning how to diagram sentences in her class.
A fun thing we had to do was write a story each week
using all the spelling words for that week.
It was fun hearing all the different stories made from the same words.

I didn't really have any favorite teachers in high school because
by that time I didn't care much for school.
All the teachers are pretty much a blurr
except for some pretty bad ones and since this is a
thanking teachers post I won't mention them. : )

I am also thankful to my Sunday School teachers.
One in particular, Mrs. Prall. : )
I liked learning all the Bible lessons on the flannel board.
Don't like to call them Bible Stories because they aren't just stories.

I think it must be harder being a teacher now a days
than it was back when I was a kid.
So much other stuff to deal with than just teaching.
Thank you all past present and future
TEACHERS.

A happy day to you.
happyone : )

Yes, it can be a nightmare out there. = D

I have lots of similar happy memories of school days and I still remember Mrs. Pulsifer with great fondness.

Hello, I remember some wonderful teachers and some really bad ones. I can not imagine how the teachers now cope with some of these crazy students. Great post! Enjoy your evening!

I will accept your thanks, Happyone! I've been retired 13 years from elementary teaching. You have some good memories of your teachers. I'm not sure I remember a lot about mine. My first grade teacher, Mrs. Owen, put me on her lap one day and told me I had beautiful eyes!:-) I guess I remember the really important things.:-)

I had a lot of good teachers. For some reason I really liked my chemistry teacher Coach Arp (nobody called him Mr.) as he was able to get us to memorize the periodic table and it was actually easy and fun.

My worst teacher would probably be my 10th grade biology teacher. She just let us play on the computer for most of the class. Back then I was okay with that, but now I feel that I had been cheated an education. Especially as I learned more about biology later in life, and it's a fascinating area of science.

Nice post! I give thanks for my teachers all of the time. They are certainly long gone but their legacy continues through everyone that they taught who was paying attention, which I did (most of the time).

Ha Ha! Fortunately they did not have computers when I was in school. I actually had good biology teachers, which I appreciated since I majored in it in college and they gave me a good foundation.
