Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Last minute lunch

 ☁     ☁     ☁     ☁
I used to wake up at the same time (6:15) every morning but lately that is not the case.  Now sometimes I don't wake up till 6:45 or even 7:00.  I'm always out the door and walking 15 minutes later.  Today I was out at 7:00.  It was 52 degrees and cloudy.

First walked over to the post office and dropped off a couple of things in the slot.  Then continued my walk all over town.

One of the horses (right) was out by the barn down by the Drane house and walked over to me at the fence.  He smelled my hand and then I petted him.  He  neighed and the other horse (left) came out of the barn and over to the fence too.  I put my hand out for him to smell too and he licked it. : )  Petted him for a bit too.  He is a big blurry because he wouldn't hold his head still.

The man was at the ball park loop again running around and around the loop.  I had left the loop and walked around town and when I passed by again later he was still there.  I wonder how many times he runs around it.  Next time I see him there I'll ask.

Just as I was walking up the driveway coming home I felt some rain drops.
I walked 5.2 miles.

We were supposed to go a festival in a town in PA but didn't go because of the weather.  We shall see what tomorrow brings.

Ken went down in the basement with his trains.  He hasn't had much time down there this summer which is normal, it is a good bad weather or winter activity.

We had just sat down to eat some more soup for lunch when my phone rang.  It was our friend Bettye asking if we had lunch yet.  When I told her we just started she told me to stop eating. : )  Her and a bunch of our friends were on their way to Annie's here in town for lunch and asked us to join them.  So we put the soup away and joined them for lunch.  I like spur of the moment invites.  : )

The soup, we will eat for dinner.
It's been a rainy day and I've been doing some reading this afternoon.
Hope you're having a good day.

That sounds like fun...starting lunch and getting a better offer. It looks very chilly there...just like here. You have more color than we do.

You have trains in your basement! Ahh the joy. I hope Ken gets to spend a bit more time down there.

I admire your ability to do things on the spur of the moment. I have never been good at that, but as I age am trying to embrace that way of life more. I think it opens the door for fun and opportunity. Just wish it came more natural for me.

A rainy day and reading do go together. A spontaneous lunch with friends is such a joy. Glad you have good friends who call for that! Sometime, explain about your husband's trains in the basement. What kind does he have? I'd love to see photos.

I've been wondering if, when I retire some day, I will start sleeping later. Usually I wake up work day time (5:30) no matter what. Today, I woke up a 4:00 - on a day off!!! With you sleeping in a bit as mornings are darker makes sense. Be careful walking in the dark.
