Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A surprise visit

☀     ☀     ☀     ☀
Quite a bit warmer than yesterday morning with temperature of 42 degrees.  Didn't leave until 7:30 this morning so even though the sun wasn't over the mountain yet it wasn't dark.  Nice to walk in the light and eventually the sunshine.

I walked the Farm Loop.  The dairy cows were out again and the chickens were walking around the yard too.  At the farm pond were a whole mess of mallard ducks and they all took off when I stopped to take a picture, so didn't get a good picture.

Farmer Goerg was out and so was Farmer Bill who both waved as I walked by.

Once I got back to town I walked a quick loop around town and then home.
Walked 5.4 miles.

While I was walking I talked to our son David on the phone when he told me he was an hour or so away and was on his way for a visit. :  )

We visited and got caught up with news in the morning and then after lunch we took him up to HT to see the work on the cabin.
Here sit Ken and David.
We walked around the HT trails  and then went on to the state forest land which our land backs up to walked on one of the trails there.  I didn't have my camera with me so couldn't take any pictures of the beautiful scenery we came across at the top of the mountain.  We walked a loop that was about 4 miles.

What a beautiful day for walking in the woods and it was so nice to have David here to enjoy it with us. : )

Had supper at Annie's here in town and now we are going to play a game of Mexican Train.

Probably won't have time to visit with you in the next couple of days but will try to get a post up and visit when I can.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

Awww, Karen, what a wonderful surprise to learn that your son was only about an hour away! I'm so happy for you. Enjoy your time together and we'll look forward to hearing from you as you are able.

It was 39 degrees here at around 8:00 when I left the house on my walk this morning. I surely did enjoy the beautiful autumn day. I layered clothing and wore my gloves and vest and thoroughly enjoyed being out!

You have some warm weather coming. It has been in the 70's here. So good to see the progress on the cabin. The frosty rose pic in the last post is amazing, frame able!!

I played Mexican Train last night with a group of friends -- we love that game! I'm glad you got this surprise visit, what a joy! And it's so cool that you can sit under you cabin -- that's like an extra room/porch/storage. Will you enclose it? Neat!
