Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Unexpected

❀     ❀     ❀     ❀
47 degrees this morning, cloudy, no breeze and it felt like rain though again it didn't rain on me.  I must have needed a little extra sleep because I woke up an hour later this morning.

Walked right through town and up Sale Barn Road.  The above picture is taken from the top of the hill near the end of the road.  It is quite a trek up the hill to get there but worth it see how pretty it is, and then I get to walk down hill.  : )

I'm walking back down the hill on the picture on the right and you can see the cows in the distance.

Here I am passing by the cows.  Only one of them came over to the fence today to see me.  I've noticed that most times one of them is up on the dirt hill and I've seen that in other fields too.
After walking back down to the main road I walked down toward Happy Trials, turned around, walked through town again, around the ball park loop twice and home.  I didn't see anyone else out walking.
I walked 5.2 miles.
I usually total up the coins I find each month but realized I haven't been doing that so here it the total for the last four months.
57 cents - 1 quarter, 1 dime, 2 nickels, and 12 pennies.

Did a few things around the house in the morning.

Pastor wanted to rent a boat on the lake and take the missionary families around the lake this afternoon but the weather report said it was supposed to be a rainy day.  So Ken thought that they might like to come over and see his train layout for something to do.  Well, the weather turned beautiful and we enjoyed a nice sunny day so we figured they all went out on the boat.  So we got in our grubby clothes and went outside after lunch to do some yard work.
About 1:00 we looked up to see the church van and three cars pull up in the driveway all coming to see the train layout.  We all laughed about it so it was no big deal but still we weren't looking our best. : )  I put out the cookies, Ken got the trains going and all went well.

We stopped at Ace's Run for supper on the way to church.  The service ran a little late and we got home later than usual.
Now it's ice cream time.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

That looks like an especially pretty walk.
I chuckled at your unexpected surprise and admire how you took it in stride and graciously extended hospitality to your guests.

I'm going to guess that your Pastor thinks you and Ken are some of the best members of his church ... how lucky he is to have you two entertain visitors with an unexpected visit! You guys are truly kind people. Have a great weekend.

I'm sure the missionaries and Pastor enjoyed the trains and the cookies, no matter how you two were dressed. It's funny though! Mary Jo

That Morrissey quote is so applicable to a situation that I know is going on now with some acquaintances. Sad to let fear take over.:-(

Cookies, friendship, hospitality, and model trains - sounds good to me.

Love the shot of the pastures and hills with the fog.
