Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Monday

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
It was 59 degrees this morning and sunny for taking my walk.  I walked on the main street through town and headed up Sale Barn Road.  My new header picture was taken at the top of the road this morning.

In this picture I'm walking back down to the main road on Sale Barn just about to go past the cows again.
Once back in town, I walked around the two cemeteries and the loop at the ball park.
It was a bit warm walking and I had to take off my top shirt and tie it around my waist.  In my shadow I look like I'm wearing a dress. : )
I saw some rabbits in one of the cemeteries and the killdeers again running along the side of the road.  Swallows and Red Winged Black birds were around as well as the robins.  I haven't seen any deer for quite a while.  Guess they are all back in the woods.

Didn't see any people out walking on this beautiful sunny morning.
I walked 5.6 miles.

Ken left for Happy Trails in the morning but I had to stay home and get some stuff around here - inside and outside.
I mowed the lawn first thing then got some wash hung up on the line.  I like my new stone clothes line area. : )

Some sad news about the Robin's nest with the 4 eggs.  All the eggs were gone as of this morning.  I can't say I'm surprised.  Didn't seem like a good place for a nest.

After lunch which I ate on the front porch, I walked to the library to return my book which was a few days overdue.  I dislike letting my library books get overdue and hardly ever have to pay a fine but this time I did it on purpose.  Couldn't renew it and was just about done so I didn't hand it in until I finished.  I handed Lisa the book and said I know I owe 50 cents, here's a dollar, keep the change.  The book was Outlander, which I really liked.  Was going to get the second one in the series but it wasn't available.  Didn't reserve it because I have a couple of other books that I'm reading.

Once back home I went outside and did a little more yard work.  I'm now working on side garden down the other end of the house.  Just weeding, raking and cutting back some dead things and I got about a quarter done and the garbage can was full and that's when I stopped.

It's mostly been a sunny day with some clouds, but there was a rain shower that lasted about 15 minutes.  At the time I had just walked outside to take the sheets off the line and it started to rain.  Talk about good timing. : )

When Ken got home from HT we sat in the swing for a few minutes, then went inside, got cleaned up and went to Brenda's for pizza.  It's not have price pizza Monday anymore - that's just for the winter.

I'm about to go join Ken on the porch and read.

It's been a good day.
Hope your day has been a happy one.

Vee - no swing on the porch, just the one in the yard.
Art - Yes, we will be kayaking any time now.  : )

We had one of those "pop up" showers here! The sun reappeared soon afterwards, though.

Everytime I hear about going to Brenda's for pizza, I want pizza!:-)

It sounds like you have had your usual good day! Do you have a snack when you have had pizza?

Too bad about the little blue eggs. Part of nature, I guess. We have a high mortality rate for eggs and baby birds around here too. I love the new header pictures. Enjoy your evening. Hope to "stop by" for a visit tomorrow!

Hi Karen, Sorry to not comment for a few days. I am taking a little break from blogging and posting a little less frequently for a while. Just reviewed your last few posts ... Sorry about the eggs but you are right ... not a good place for a nest. Your Mother's Day post was beautiful. The photo you posted last Friday with tree in bloom is just wonderful! ... my favorite from the last few days. Thanks for sharing your blog ... always interesting!

Sounds like you had a nice Monday. I love the Outlander series. The books are so detailed I feel like I learn so much. The scenery around your house is breathtaking. I love all the photo's you take.

What a lovely day you had! The pic in the banner is so peaceful. You have a gorgeous view. Isn't is fun that you can simply walk to a library, and yet have such fabulous rural views?

Love that rolling-hill photo. That's getting to my favorite walking temperature. :) I love getting up and out and not needing a sweater/coat/jacket.

Ahhhh...thought there was a swing someplace! So you liked Outlander. I've been waiting to hear. You know what I think...couldn't get past some of those way too descriptive places.

You should not go out in public in such a short dress! ;^)

Hope you enjoy the kayaking soon.
