Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Red Winged Black Bird

Another couple of pictures from my walk on Sunday.
A Red Winged Blackbird at the town pond.

This morning it was 50 degrees and rainy and foggy when I started out on my walk.  I wore my rain pants and yellow rain slicker and my hiking shoes which keep my feet a bit drier than my normal walking shoes.

Went to the post office first thing and dropped off some mail in the slot and then walked around town including the two cemeteries and the ball park loop.  I usually stay around town when the weather isn't all that great so I'm closer to home in case it gets worse.
I'm walking up the main road in town in this picture.
And here I'm heading back down from the cemetery to the main road.
Another morning when I didn't see any one else out walking.  Waved to the usual bus drivers, and Joe who works for the town.
By the time I got home the rain had stopped and it was just cloudy.
I walked 5.2 miles.

I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies this morning.  Ken was having visitors coming to see his train layout and I always make cookies for that.

In the afternoon when Ken had his visitors over I walked over to Sherry's, my  hair dresser and changed my appointment.  She didn't have any clients at the time so we chatted for a while.
Then I headed over to the library to straighten out a problem with some books I had on reserve.  Came home with another book to read too.

We drove up to Uniontown to do a little shopping and discovered that a new Hobby Lobby just opened up.  What a nice surprise.  So we spent some time in there just looking around.  The last one we were in was before we moved.

I'm off now for my ice cream snack - vanilla fudge.

Hope your day was a happy one.

John - the reason for the stones between the raised garden beds is just because I think it makes it look nice and tidy and I like the paths of stone. On each side of the fence will be mulch and I'll plant some flowers around the fence.

I love the red winged blackbird, ours are plain black and the females are brown. i enjoy seeing birds and critters from different parts of the world.
Yum... my favourite ice cream is French vanilla and second favourite is caramel, so vanilla fudge sounds like a combination made in heaven.

You got a great shot of the red winged blackbird.
It sounds like another nice day in your neighborhood. Ken's train visitors were twice blessed.

The bird is pretty! It's early but I am going to eat a brownie and enjoy another cup of coffee.

I've loved red-winged blackbirds for as far back as I can recall. As kid in the 'burbs, I think they just seemed exotic to me.

One of the things I enjoy about this area is the fog and the lovely way it is slowly sent on its way by the sun. Your picture of the fog in Monday's post is absolutely beautiful. I do not know how I missed that.
