Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

An unsual service

Frozen

27 degrees, cloudy and calm this morning when I left for my walk at 7:00.  The side streets were pretty icy in places so I stayed walking along the main road going down toward HT and also went up Barn Sale Road.  It was pretty with the trees all white with frozen snow.
All the pictures today were taken along Barn Sale Road.  I always like looking down over one the farms from up there and have taken many pictures of it.
Didn't see anyone else out walking but some of the usual people gave me a little toot toot as they drove passed.  I can't see who they are but know the cars. : )

So nice to have another outside walk and I went 6 miles.

We spent the day down in LaVale doing some shopping.  Went in quite a few stores one of them was Joann's and I got some more yarn.
Also picked up the meringue powder there too so now I can make the icing for the cookies.
Since we were out at lunch time we stopped in at Applebees for our lunch.  It was a nice day out. : )

Sunday at the evening service at church we had a very unusual church service which I think Ken got started.  Let me explain.  Most Sunday evenings part of the service we have a testimony time.  Sometimes we tell about the day we were saved, sometimes what God as done in our lives or just to say Thank you for something.   The past couple of Sunday's Pastor Leatherman has been in New Zealand and Pastor Grant who is the youth Pastor has taken over while Pastor is gone.  Well this past Sunday Pastor Grant asked for people to say something they are thankful for.  Ken was the first one and he said he was thankful for the great job Pastor Grant was doing in the last couple weeks.  Not only that he was doing a great job but under stress as well.  His wife is expecting a baby any SECOND and they are also in the middle of buying a house.  All this and he is only 23 years old.  Well Pastor Grant was very touched by Ken's words.  Other people went on to say some other things they were thankful for.  Then when it was time for the sermon Pastor Grant said that although he had a sermon prepared he felt that God wanted him to do something different.  He read some passages from the Bible and then started thanking certain people for things they have done.   It was very touching.  Then others took turns thanking people for things they have done.  Some of the things were simple things, and others very big things.  Then we all walked around going up to people and thanking them for things and telling them what they mean to us.  There were many tears flowing but tears of joy.  I can't really explain how special this was.  I walked away feeling so close to my church family.  It is a service I won't soon forget.

This evening I plan to do a little knitting while watching television and of course will be eating my ice cream snack. : )

Hope your day has been a happy one.

It is SO IMPORTANT to let people know what they mean to us! I am blessed by your presence through blogging! Take care of yourself when you are out there walking!

Oh gosh Karen, I got a bit choked up just reading this. I think this would be a better world if we would take a few moments to appreciate and thank people. I think sometimes we just assume they know this, but it can mean so much to hear it.
By the way, Thank You & Ken for the inspiration you provide through your blog and the exemplary way you lead your lives.

I got on here to comment but realized that I was about to write just about the same thing that Happy@Home did! I agree with everything you said, Happy@Home!

Pretty frost on the trees. Looks a bit like it may have warmed up a little from all the snow you had last week. Thanking people like that is quite an awesome idea.

The frost on the trees is so beautiful!
Reading about your church service gives me goosebumps - how special a night that had to be! Good job, Ken, for starting the ball rolling! It is pretty amazing that Pastor Grant is tackling all that at such a young age.
