Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Total Steps in 2014

One more picture of Ken's Train Layout
☁     ☁     ☁     ☁
I walked out the door this morning for my walk, got to the driveway and turned around and went right back in the house.  The driveway was a sheet of ice and there was a drizzly rain turning to ice as it hit the ground.  Not a good day for walking outside, even with my ice grippers.  So down in the basement I went and walked 2 miles before breakfast.  Walked another 2 miles before lunch and the last 2 miles late afternoon.  Even though I didn't get to walk outside at least I got my 6 miles in for the day. : )

It was a good day for staying home in a nice cozy ice free house, reading and knitting and that is what I did for most of the day.

We haven't had a home made pizza in a few weeks and today seemed like a good day for it so I got out the bread machine, made some dough and Ken made us a a couple of delicious pizzas.  One done and the other ready for the oven with a variety of toppings.  One we ate the other we will save for another day.
Hope your day was a happy one and you have an enjoyable evening.

John -  Never found a silver dollar but did find a one dollar coin.  Some of the money I've found looks as if it as been around quite a while.  I've even found one half of a penny that was cut in two.

John came closest to guessing my steps for the year at 4,000,000.
Remember it is NOT just my morning walk steps
but ALL DAY long steps.
My total steps for the year 2014 are 6,330,039.
Three must be a good number for me.  : )
Average of 17,342 steps a day.
A little over 3,000 miles for the year.
I could have walked from NY to LA and had a couple hundred miles to spare.

Hi Happyone, Wow, I think I got lucky on closest guess to your total. Over 6 Million is just awesome. Thanks for the challenge! Also, thanks for answering my question about the coins. I like to use the dollar coins for parking meters here in the city. Sometimes even banks don't have them in stock. So finding that dollar coin is pretty amazing! That pizza looks delicious! John

Yikes! Ice on your walking route! I'd turn around, too!

I just read your last post. Somehow I missed it earlier. You have a lot of glass banks! I am always picking up coins, but they are usually only pennies. I've not made a habit of saving them. Just last week at the parking lot at the doctor's office, there was a $10 bill! I couldn't believe that! It was very wet from the rain that had fallen all night.

Ken's train layout is amazing! What a nice job he has done.

The pizza looks very tempting! I made a pot of "De-Tox Soup" today.:-)

I am so impressed with your endurance and commitment to walk as much as you do! My mother-in-law was just the same, up until she passed away in her late 80's. I wish I had your umph to get off my lazy keester and do the same :) Although I did take a walk yesterday in the snow covered streets. It was a beautiful day. That pizza looks great!! We have a wintry, snowy blustery day here off Lake Michigan. A good day to stay in and draw for me. Will later watch the Dallas Cowboy game (love football) and Downton Abbey. Have a blessed week!

I'm very impressed with your number of steps in 2014. Of course Ken's train setup is also impressive.

Hi Karen - I love the new red background for your blog! Very nice! Congrats on walking to far. That is great. You sure do inspire me. Charly and I figure that we walked about 600 miles last year - but that is nothing compared to your walking. I would really like to walk a bit more, but with being gone all day at work, time becomes an issue, so we do the best we can. I love Ken's layout. Would love to see it in person some day! Enjoy your Sunday!

Your steps are amazing! I'm trying to get myself up to 10,000 every day at the moment, but I don't know how I'd ever get to an average of 17,000! You're really upping the challenge here!

That's quite an impressive number of steps!

Your homemade pizzas sure look delicious! I like Ken's A&P coffee ad. I wonder how many remember A&P - it seems they've been gone forever.

I know you walk more than me and I hit 5+ million, so I guess I would have been close. I would have guessed 6 million. :^)

The train layout is astounding! Looks like something in a train museum!
