Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A snowy day

☃     ☃     ☃     ☃
We are getting some snow today.  : )  Left the house at 7:55 this morning and it was snowing.  It was only 17 degrees but no wind today and what a difference that made.  It didn't seem nearly as cold as yesterday.  I wore my rain paints and hiking boots for walking in the snow and stayed nice and dry.

I stayed mainly on the main road where it was easier walking but then I had to move out of the way of the snow plows a few times.
I'm at one end of town here just starting out.
And here I'm at the other end of town.
On the left is Barn Sale Road and I walked up there and took a few pictures up along the way.

Picture at the top of the post is along Barn Sale also.
I loved being out in the snow.  Passed by a women shoveling snow and I said, "We are finally get some good snow."  She replied, " I know."  She did not seem happy about it.

I went home after 5 miles because I felt like I was getting in the way of traffic and snow plows.  I walked another mile down in the basement just before supper so got my full 6 miles in.

It's been snowing all day and we have about 5 inches so far.

I spent most of the afternoon finishing up the baby sweater.  It was quite a challenge for me but I am so very happy to say that I've figured it out and it is now done.  I can't tell you how glad I am that I did this.  It is a major accomplishment for me.
Later I will start a little hat to go along with the sweater and slippers.  The hat is easy and should go pretty fast.  Hope so anyway because the shower is this coming Saturday.

The other day when I posted about all the coins I've found on my walks in the glass banks, I made a mistake about the date I started saving the coins.  I said 1988 but is is actually 1997.  I stared walking mornings in 1988.
I had the glass banks downstairs put away in a cabinet but now I've moved them upstairs and used some old boxes to display them.
We got a couple of movies from Netflix in the mail today one of which is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and we will watching that later.  I watched it a long time ago and have also read the book.  Don't remember much about it but do know that I thought it was good.

I have discovered that I really like the ice cream flavor Butter Pecan.  It has always been my mother's favorite.  She would be very surprised to hear me say that because I have never liked it before.  I guess our taste buds change as we age. : )

Hope you have enjoyed your day and you are happy and content.

I love snowy scenes. More sunshine here and we have now warmed back up into the 70s. I love the baby sweater. How darling. You are a very talented knitter. I love how you have displayed your coin banks. Have a great evening - enjoy the movies from Netflix!

I really like the snowy scene you captured/posted at the start of your post. It would be perfect on note cards. :) The baby sweater turned out very nice; I'm sure the recipient mother will love it.

It seems that many bloggers received snow yesterday. I have enjoyed seeing it virtually as I think a freshly fallen snow is so cozy and pretty. We haven't had any, but our temperatures are set to plummet tonight. I'm putting the flannel sheets on the bed today.
The baby sweater turned out so cute. I imagine you do feel a great sense of accomplishment now that it is finished.
Wow, that is a lot of coins you have found on your walks and a neat way to display them too.

The sweater came out beautiful. How lucky for your friend to receive such a nice handmade gift. Also like the way you have displayed your walking coins.

We're getting some snow flurries down here this morning, to go along with the very cold weather. We won't have much more than a dusting, but it looks nice coming down. Butter Pecan was my mother's favorite ice cream as well.

Thank you for posting the picture of that gorgeous yellow sweater! Oh my...it's just beautiful. I know you can get the cap done by Saturday! I love the way you have your rolling pins displayed. I need to find a nice crock at a reasonable price to display mine on the kitchen counter...or somewhere close by.

Have a wonderful remainder of the day...stay warm!

Oh...and I almost forgot...I posted the recipe for the Italian Cream Cake on the blog today. ;)

I don't want my own snow, but your pictures are so pretty, especially the first one. We have cold + wind, but no snow, thankfully. The sweater is adorable! I like your antique bank vignette.

Staying dry makes all the difference in the cold, doesn't it? I walked through a shallow puddle and made the rude discovery that these shoes were not sealed thoroughly. Didn't like that a bit. Still, it makes for a fun story when I get back inside and talk about it. :-)

I'm a day behind on your posts as I just commented on your other one with the snow. I really like that first photo with the red wagon wheel. Your baby sweater looks so cute.

All that snow is very picturesque. Thanks for sharing it with us, especially those of us here in sunny (and warm) California! Cheers!

All that snow reminds me of days long ago when I would be out on snowshoes and cross-country skiis all the time. Art
