Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A ride to Staunton, VA

☀     ☀     ☀     ☀
Left the house on my walk at 7:00 this morning.  Though the temperature was 25 degrees it was very windy and it seemed much colder.  My body was warm but my face really felt the cold. I had to be home early and had a shortened walk of only 3 miles. Considering my cold face it was just as well.

Had to be home because we wanted to get an early start on our trip to Staunton, Va.  which is a three hour drive from home.  Each year our church helps put together a book of the Bible in a foreign language and they get sent to missionaries to pass out.  We call it our Fingerprint Ministry and some of you may remember me talking about it before.  We always have a lot of fun with lots of church members helping out.  We usually do it once a year.  Our Pastor thought instead of doing it for three days once a year we could get some books together each month.  So today Ken and I went to pick up the materials for putting them together. The book we will be putting together is Romans and it is in Spanish.

It was a nice ride through parts of WV and VA.  When we left the weather was a cold 25 degrees and some freezing rain was just starting.  The farther away we got the nicer the weather was and when we got there at 11:30 it was 47 degrees and sunny!!

We stopped at Applebee's and had lunch, picked up the materials and then headed back home.  Once we got close to home it was once again only 25 degrees, but the freezing rain was gone and it was just cloudy.

Good gas prices in VA.  I don't even remember the last time it was this cheap.
The cheapest gas around home here is $2.42.

That took up our day and now here it is evening already.
We enjoyed watching 12 Angry Men yesterday and tonight our movie is Arsenic and Old Lace.  I remember seeing it a long time ago but don't remember much about it.

Hope you're day was a happy one.

Sounds like you had a nice trip into Staunton. Wow, I can't believe that gas price. It's been a long time since we had that here. Currently our prices are more like those around your home town ... about $2.50. Have a good weekend!

I think your Fingerprint Ministry is marvelous. I'm glad that you had good weather for your trip to Staunton. I'm happy to say that our gas prices are closer to Virginia's than they are to yours!

What a great idea, and what a blessing you are to travel so far to be part of it. Glad you had nice weather!

That's a nice project. I'm glad you enjoyed your drive down to my neck of the (hiking) woods. That is a nice area. Yeah, gasoline is not very expensive here right now. $2 and south of that is pretty routine.
