Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Wednesday

I am thankful for farmers  : )
and that I know some of them and get to walk
past their farms.

A tree burl
✼     ✼     ✼     ✼
45 degrees this morning and a rainy one.  Out I went in my rain pants and yellow slicker which kept me nice and dry.  It felt colder than 45 and at first I thought I'd take a short walk but once I walked a bit I decided to keep walking.

I stayed around town this morning and just walked all over the place.  The lady who walks with the ear phones was out by the ball park.

Yesterday one side of the road in town was being dug up and they put steel plates over the hole at the end of the day.  This morning they were cutting on the other side of the road using one of those huge round blades.  The work is going on a couple of blocks down the road.
It was nice to be outside walking even in the rain but it was also nice to get back home into a nice warm, dry house.

I walked 6.2 miles.

The rain stopped and it has just been cloudy but we've stayed home today having a bit of a lazy day.  I've been doing some reading and just puttering about.

I didn't go to church with Ken this evening because he and 7 guys from church are going deep sea fishing tomorrow and are headed down there right after church.  If I had gone to church we would have had to go in two separate vehicles.

I walked on over the library right after supper for my book club.  I usually leave the book club early so I can go to church but tonight I stayed till the end.  Not that it is very much later but I got to stay and look around the library for a while, so you won't be surprised to hear I came home with a few extra books.

So now, I'm off to have my snack tonight.  Vanilla Fudge Swirl - Another one of my favorites.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

This sounds like a nice idea.
Every Thanksgiving, we all write down three things
we're thankful for and put them in a hat.
Then we pass the hat around the dinner table
and everyone has to guess who wrote what.

Just a big Thank You to those who leave such nice, kind comments.  They are really appreciated.  : )  Some of the kind things you say brings tears to my eyes.

That is one BIG tree burl. Since Vee mentioned them on her blog, I have been on the lookout for them. I have not seen anything to compare to yours, however.
I clicked on your picture and am now wondering what kind of souvenirs one might find inside the shop.
Deep sea fishing does sound like an adventure. I hope the guys are successful and bring home some nice fish.
Glad you were able to peek around in the library and find some more books to read.
Enjoy that ice cream.
I thank you, too, for the kind comments through the years.

Yum! I'd love an ice cream snack! You do such a good job with your walking. Sending Ken good wishes for that deep sea fishing. Do you have cold weather coming? Our thermometer didn't seem to move upward at all today - downward was more like it. I put the electric blanket on the bed today! Have a good night!

I so admire your walking trips especially getting out in the cold rain. You inspire me so and I really need to get off my keester and do something. I'm within walking distance to our library, historic downtown, eight blocks from Lake MIchigan as well as our own river walk. It's such a beautiful small town but I just come up with one excuse after another. I'll let you know when I do walk so you can be proud of me! ;) -Bev

Hi Happyone, I’m getting caught up on your last 3 posts … all very nice. Favorite pictures … The church steeple in the trees … the long shadow out on the farm … geese and moon … and the tree burl. And, of course, always enjoy your walk reports. Thank you for your comments on my blog. Have a great day, John

Sounds like a nice day.
How did your hubby do on his fishing trip??

Love the picture of your little town street.... so quaint. I think that is a lovely main street.

It's been chilly here as well, but no snow on the ground as of yet.

Enjoy this day, and hope you enjoy your walk today as well.

We have snow flurries in our forecast - or wintry mix- for the weekend. I wonder if you will get some of that headed your way :) I've been noticing some tree burls lately....I wonder what makes them do that? I might have to look that up!
What a Great Thanksgiving Idea!!!

Hope Ken and his friends don't FREEZE --since I'll bet this cold weather we have is headed to YOU. We are getting some flurries today --and it's cold as whiz here.

Glad you got your walk in despite the rain!!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

Hope they catch some yummy fish!

That's quite a burl on your HT tree. Most unusual.

Great burl on that tree. Would you believe I drove Coleen to school this morning because I didn't want to walk 2 blocks in the cold (I'm a wimp now in cold weather). It snowed today as well so no walking for me if I can avoid it.

That's quite a tree burl! Must be important road work if they're doing it this late in the year. Vanilla fudge swirl sounds yummy. :) I like the Thanksgiving blessings-in-a-hat idea.

I've heard of people writing down things they're thankful for and filling a cup or vase, but not guessing who wrote what. That would be fun and a great way to share what was important to each individual. Good for you on a chilly, rainy day walk.
