Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Thursday

I am very thankful for Ken.  A better husband I couldn't ask for.
He's kind, caring, smart, fun, handy,
and also my best friend.  : )
✼     ✼     ✼     ✼
Snapped this picture sometime last week

33 degrees this morning and cloudy and it felt like snow was in the air.  I walked through town and down toward Happy Trails on the main road and turned around and headed back.  Before town though I took a turn up Barn Sale Rd to see how the cows were doing up on the farm there.  Lots of black bulls scattered all over the field.  Here are a couple of them near the fence.
Walking through town this kitty ran out to meet me and purred and rubbed against my leg.  He wouldn't look up but snapped this picture anyway.
Along the side of the road there were half a dozen chickens walking along all in a row.  Looked like they were going for their morning walk. : ) Tried to get a picture but they all came out too blurry.

Up at one of the cemeteries there was a woman visiting the grave of her mom, dad, and brother.  She said good morning and we stopped to chat a while.  Her family has lived here for generations.  She has a house around here and goes to Florida for the winter and leaves tomorrow for warmer temperatures.

Another nice walk and I walked 6.2 miles.

I left a little bit later than usual and stopped to talk to the woman at the cemetery so had to rush around when I got back home.  Just had time for breakfast and off I left for my hair appointment.  Thankfully it is just a block away.  I'm letting my hair grow just a bit more.  Maybe another inch and it will be the length I can be happy with.  Sherry just trimmed the back and my bangs a bit.  I'm thankful to have found such a good hair dresser.  : )

I've started knitting a baby sweater.  Two people I know are having babies and I wanted to make them something.  I usually make blankets but thought I'd try sweaters this time.  I haven't had much luck with sweaters but I'm giving it another try and maybe this time I'll do better.

Don't know when Ken will be coming home from his day of fishing but I'm sure it won't be until late.  Sure hope they all caught some fish.

It's been a cloudy day with some snow showers every so often.  Not a lot of snow just a little dusting.  The temperature has stayed the same all day.

I plan on getting a little more knitting done and also some reading.  It's been a nice quiet day.  Planned on getting some work done but never got around to it.  : )  That's okay, there is always tomorrow.

A happy day to you.

  1. How nice to read that someone is thankful for their spouse. I sometimes think that message isn't heard enough. It looks as if you've made a real friend with the kitty.

  2. Good husbands and good hairdressers are definitely things to be thankful for.
Anxious to hear how the fishermen made out.
I think you will be successful with the baby sweaters, although I can see how they would provide a much bigger challenge than a blanket.
It almost looks like it could snow here too today. Not quite cold enough though.

  3. Love the Kennedy quote!
It has been years since I knitted anything, but I did try a baby sweater once.
It is really cold here today. The friend at the cemetery may not escape cold weather before she goes to Florida.
The cat knows a gentle soul just by general demeanor. It knew he had a friend in you this morning.

  5. I think you've become so skilled that the baby sweater is going to be no problem. That is one vivid red cat!

  7. Hi Happyone, Sounds like you had a nice day. I got a kick out of you mentioning that you didn't get any work done ... I'd say walking 6.2 miles was a pretty good start!! Ha ha. And that was very kind of you to start your post with a tribute to your husband. You guys set a good example. Thank you for your kind comments on my blog. John

  8. Isn't it a wonderful blessing to have such a good husband??!! I feel the same way!!!
We are blessed and lucky :)

    Love the little shed.
Thanks for your sweet words on my post. Sounds silly I suppose to hate cement work and electrical work as much as I do.. but there you go.
I completely understand your fear about roof work too. I had an uncle fall off a roof and he died.
Yes.. renovation work is dangerous sometimes.

Hope you have a great weekend.

    Smiles :)

  11. Cute little shed but its poor roof and eaves trough have seen better days. What a friendly cat!
It's so refreshing to hear someone say positive things about their spouse. :) Yes, you do have a great fella!
