Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Sunny days and stormy days all in one day

I'm thankful for the kindness of every day strangers.
The people who hold doors open for you, say thank you, or stop to let you cross the street.  Cashiers who actually smile and say have a nice day and mean it.  : )

This picture is from yesterday's walk.

It was another rainy morning and I walked my first two miles down in the basement.  Then I went on line and couldn't find one word that said damp weather was bad for a cough.  So I decided to take the rest of my walk outside and left mid morning with a couple of cough drops.  Well it was quite a walk.  It was 39 degrees, windy and when I left it was snowing and I felt like I was walking in a blizzard.
Five minutes later the snow was gone and it was a beautiful sunny day.
But that didn't last long either, and before long I was back to walking in a blizzard.
In the hour that I walked it, I went through 2 sunny days and 3 snow storms.  Crazy.  All of the snow melted as soon as it hit the ground.
I walked around town and around both of the cemeteries and the loop behind the ball park and walked an additional 4.3 miles for a grand total of 6.3 miles for the day.
Oh yeah I also found 2 pennies.

Oh no, I looked down at my Striiv pedometer and what did I see but a BLACK SCREEN.  After 2 1/2 years my Striiv has died. : (   I must have a new one right away, but no stores around here have them.  So I have ordered one on line and paid the extra postage to have it delivered on Monday.  Ah, I can rest easy now, but until then I am using my old pedometer.   This Freestyle one which is no longer made.
But before I could use it, the battery had to be replaced so down to LaVale we went and found a battery after looking in a few stores.  This works okay in a pinch but I sure do miss my Striiv.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

When you rise in the morning,
give thanks for the light,
for your life,
for your strength.
Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living.
If you see no reason to give thanks,
the fault lies in yourself.

Your photos today are a good example of the old saying, "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes!" :D

Oh no! You wore out your Striiv! Gotta love online shopping. Glad you have a backup. :)

That was certainly an action packed day as far as the weather was concerned. But at least it wasn't boring.

Well, the old saying, "if you don't like the weather here, then wait a minute" sure applied! Hope you get the new pedometer soon. I keep meaning to check that out because I like to keep track of my steps. My Friday was good. I had it off and spent the morning waiting for an electrician, and as you know, I got in an afternoon hike. Leaving for a mountain hike in an hour or so. Group hike this time. enjoy the day! Art

Well, if the weather here is any indication, your in for a tiny bit of a warm up before the chill sets. In it was in the 50's yesterday. I don't mind walking in the cold but the damp/rain is too much for my old bones.

Now that was a crazy weather walk! Sounds as if the air aloft was in a tailspin. That first photo does wonders for this lover of blues and yellows and golds. Gorgeous!

Crazy weather!!

I'd be lost without my FitBit so I know how you feel without your Striiv! Just one more day...
