Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A cold morning

I'm thankful for a nice warm cozy house
on a cold day.
Thankful for our pellet stove which makes it so.

The sun this morning behind some high thin clouds.

A very still morning but a bit on the cold side at 16 degrees.  Wore an extra pair of tights under sweat pants and long johns.  I first walked up to the end of the hill on my street.  I knew walking up the hill would make me warm and it worked.  The road is a dead end and I'm at the end of it here taking the picture.
I saw a couple of rabbits scurry off into the bushes as I walked by.  Walked all over the place around town.  These are the first icicles I've seen this season.  They are so evenly spaced in a nice neat row.
I didn't see any one else out and only a few cars passed by.  I had the town all to myself.  I guess most people were still tucked in their warm beds not knowing what a beautiful morning they were missing. : )

A lucky morning for finding coins.  1 dime, 1 nickel, and 9 pennies.  The nickel and 8 pennies were all in one place in the middle of the road and the dime and one penny were in front of the bank.  5 coins were heads up.

I walked 6.2 miles.

Hung around home for most of the day and left mid afternoon to go to Uniontown, Pa.  Went to a few stores there and before coming home we had dinner at Red Lobster.  It was the first time we've eaten at a Red Lobster since we moved.  Our meal was delicious and well worth the wait.

Hope your Saturday has been a happy one.

John - How did I get into blogging?  Well, about 8 years ago I got a Christmas card from a friend who had an Eboard where you could post notes on line.  She put the web address in the card and I went there to look at it.  I thought what a great idea and started doing that.  I would just put notes about my day so my family and friends could see what I'd been up to.  I did that for about a year when my daughter told me about blogs.  I checked into it and thought yes, I'd like to do that.  I originally thought just family and friends would read my blog.  I had no idea that the blogging world was so big and that I'd meet so many wonderful people who have become my friends. : )  Funny thing, hardly any of my family or friends read my blog.

Lindy - All those footprints are my own. : )  I walked around one of the cemeteries 4 times so I could take a picture of all the prints.

This is post number 2000.

Congratulations on Post #2000! Also, on your good fortune of finding coins today! We had 21 degrees here this morning. Red Lobster is my husband's favorite restaurant! He loves their fish choices.

It is fun being the first one up and outside on beautiful mornings when the world seems all your own. Those evenly spaced icicles are so cool and pretty! :)

Hi Happyone, What a nice post! Although I live in Seattle now, I used to live in Southwest Montana where we had a wood stove. Like your stove, I was often thankful for it … I don’t think there is any other source of heat that is so even and comfortable as a pellet or wood stove. The sun behind the clouds … those are cool pictures! Behind the clouds the sun almost looks like the moon. Another cool photo is that icicles picture. That metal roof has the channels that set up the perfectly spaced icicles and you got a great shot of that. Thanks for such a good answer to my question. I’ll bet a lot of folks have taken the same path into blogging. You know what’s interesting to me … No one in my family watches my blog either. Oh well, at least we are having fun! Thanks for sharing and for your comments on my blog. John PS Congrats on number 2000!

I tend to take my walk in the afternoon or evening. I love a late night summer walk when it is all my own. Once I retire I think I will like walking in the morning. Lovely pictures, it looks so serene.

Sure, your friends read your blog!

Those are good things to be thankful for. Me too, on these cold days. 16 is plenty cold for this time of year. You are about 12 degrees colder there than here, I think. Yesterday, I was thinking of all my pals running in the Richmond marathon on such a cold day. One does warm up, other than our hands, feet, and faces.

Hi Karen - I love that icicle picture...oh I would like to have just a bit of snow...I do miss it sometimes. We are much cooler here, now, only up into the 70s and very breezy today. I love reading the history about how you got into blogging - so glad you did. Like you, my daughter(s) got me started on blogging but only one reads my blog and that isn't often. Sometimes she will visit my blog if I send her a link. Oh well - I have made great friends - like you - out here in blog land! Enjoy the week.

I love the stillness on cold mornings! It's funny how regimented those icicles are. Glad you found your way to blogdom!

Sixteen degrees - oh, that's cold for walking! Nice morning light on the building with the corrugated roof and icicles.

Regarding your footprints - that's a great place to walk without getting disturbed by others. :)

I'm commenting with my Blogger ID today, but it's still me - Lindy.

Cool story. I've just now started reading your blog. I didn't know that you had a daughter.

I don't think I knew how you got started in blogging. Very interesting and I'm so glad you are still at it. 2000 posts...WOW... congratulations on that milestone. I think I've been at it since 2008 and haven't even hit 500 yet.
