Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Herrington State Park

Kind of sad to see only one of my daisies left.

49 degrees this morning with a mixture of sun and clouds.  First went to the post office and mailed off a birthday card.  Walked down past the turn off to HT turned around and walked back to town.

At the first cemetery I stopped to chat with Lisa who lives up the hill behind my house.

At the other cemetery I walked around looking at some of the grave stones.  Here is one of them.  You can still read it quite well after all that time.  I notice back then they listed your age with year, month, and day.
Saw a couple of deer and a few rabbits.

Here's something you don't see very often an 18 wheeler in the middle of a field.
By the time I got home there was no sun to be seen and it felt like rain.
I walked 6.4 miles.

Next Friday October 17 the ladies from church are meeting at Herrington Manor in Herrington State park for our autumn get together dinner.  Today after lunch Ken and I made a dry run there so I would know how to get there.  I'm not so great on directions.  Ken tells me I'm directionally challenged.
This is the lake in the park.  Looks like a good place to go kayaking.
Herrington Manor sits at the edge of the lake.  It has a huge fire pit in the middle of the room with all those windows.
We saw only one other man there today and he was fishing in the lake.  We walked around for a mile or two.  Walked down this trail that was covered in pine needles and ran along the lake.  I loved it here and wish we could have walked longer.
It's a good thing we turned around when we did because just as we were getting back to the truck it started raining.
I took more pictures and will most a few more tomorrow.

Its been a good day and hope you've had a good day too.
Smile often - it makes you happy.

not so much by what happens to you
as by the way your mind looks at what happens.

Three Things That Made Me Smile Today
  1. Talking to Lisa
  2. A mini chocolate bar
  3. Walking down the trail by the lake

  1. The Herrington Manor looks like a great place for an autumn get together. I wonder if you ladies will have a chance to take a walk after lunch.
We've been busy with our business move here this last week and I didn't realize I had missed so many of your posts. I am now caught up. Must say the most surprising thing was that you had some snowflakes mixed in. Seems way to early for that.

  4. It is very good to do a "dry run" when going to a new place! I'm not too bad with following directions, but when there are several different options for reaching a particular destination, I'm not very good at choosing the best one.:-) Wonder what was going to be loaded onto that 18-wheeler! Lovely trail and lake. I know it was a nice place for walking.

  6. There's nothing like the smell of walking among pine trees.
Love the quote, I guess that's one reason why some people enjoy life and others don't.
