Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Naming our house

A yellow weed/flower on the side of the road

The sun was a huge red ball in the sky when I walked this morning.
It was 56 degrees when I started out walking toward Happy Trails.  Passed up the road to turn to HT and walked town the road just a bit farther and turned around here where I took the picture and headed back toward town.

A lot of people tooted and waved to me this morning.  Most of them I couldn't tell who they were but I waved back anyway.

A couple of ladies stopped to ask directions.  They were headed the wrong way so I headed them in the right direction and off they went with a word of thanks.

I walked around town, the path behind the ball park and around the two cemeteries.  Walking up the hill to one of the cemeteries were two killdeer and as usual they were running away from me instead of flying.  They ran quite a way and this one ran right up the gravel pile.  He stopped so I took his picture.  The field in the background is soy beans.
I met another farmer this morning, Farmer Marvin.  His fields are the ones around the cemeteries, down by the Drane house, along the main road and reaches out near Happy Trails.  We had a nice chat.  Nice meeting the local farmers.

I walked 6.2 miles.
Good day for coins.  Two dimes and four pennies.

Ken is gone today with a church group to Bedford, Pa.
I'm home puttering around the house and yard.

I've been thinking a lot about a name for our home and have been throwing some around.
  • Happy Acre - we live on one acre and are happy here and it goes with Happy Trails
  • Sunnyside - I just like the name - it sounds happy
  • Our Place - simple
  • Heavens Next - we plan on staying here till we die
Any sound good to you?  Suggestions will be most welcome.

Hope you are enjoying your Saturday.

Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo,
but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you,
when the limo breaks down.

 Three Thankful Things Today
  1. The sun rose and I have another day
  2. Meeting another local farmer
  3. People who say thank you

Betsy - Youghiogheny is a Algonquin word which some Native Americans speak.
It means stream flowing in contrary direction.

You have such good shoulders on the road for walking! That is something we don't have here.:-(

I think I like Happy Acre, but that could be because it was the first one I read.:-) I don't need too many choices.:-)

I hope Ken has had a good day with the church group.

I wouldn't go for Sunnyside personally, but that is because it was the name of a nearby psychiatric hospital when I was growing up. I like Happy Acre or Heavens Next. Our Place is nice and simple too, so really I'm no help whatever.

My husbands grandparents named their retirement home "Weneeda Rest"... Always thought that was cute. I'm still following your posts here, but rarely comment now that I'm no longer blogging myself. No sure why!! Anyway, my vote is for Happy Acres

Heavens next ... Has my vote. You have traveled a lot in your life, move many many times. I am glad you found such a wonderful place to put down roots. Such a wonderful name to reflect your happiness here and your belief in God.

I like the idea of naming a house. How about Heaven's Acre? Sort of combining the present with the future, if you will.

We get to vote? I like the first for the reasons you mentioned. Well now, that is a big chunk of cash for one day!

John's vote? The Ponderosa. He does not have an original thought in his head. LOL! (That's what his place is named.)
