Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Another good day

Picture of the Day
Fall is on its way
 ❤    ❤     ❤     ❤
Rained last evening and over night but it had stopped when I started walking.  A cloudy morning with some sun and it was 60 degrees.

I walked the Farm Loop and around one of the cemeteries and the behind the ball park.
Haven't seen the chickens at one of the farms for quite a while but they were out in the front yard this morning as I walked by and they stayed so I could take their picture.  Isn't he a handsome rooster!!
Walking past one of the churches were a couple of men doing some work on the building.  We said good morning and then one of them asked if I had a cell phone and if he could borrow it.  He had locked his keys and cell phone in his truck and had to call his wife to bring his extra key.  I told him your day can only get better after a not so good start.  He laughed and told me to have a good day.

I walked 6.2 miles.

Thanks so much for the prayers for Betty.  She is doing very well.  Moved out of ICU last night and already is saying she wants to go home so she can go to church on Sunday. : )

Remember two weeks ago when Ken and I went to Perkins to meet people from church for lunch only we had the wrong day?  Well today was the day.  : )  It is called Super Seniors Luncheon and meets once a month.  This is the first one we have gone to. We had such a nice time.  I had a half sandwich and a piece of delicious Lemon Meringue Pie.  Next month is a picnic in someones back yard.  Too bad our stone patio isn't done yet.  We could have had it here.
Pastor said a few words and challenged us to do 5 things every day.
  1. Read the Bible
  2. Pray
  3. Do an act of kindness
  4. Thank God for something specific
  5. Witness to someone
The first two peppers and a tomato we picked from our garden.  We made BLT's for supper yesterday with that tomato. Oh boy, there is nothing like fresh produce out of your own garden.
We are thinking about having a small green house so we can start our garden earlier in the season next year.

A beautiful sunny day with a nice breeze.  Warm in the sun but cool in the shade.  Ken waxed my car for me and now it shines like a brand new car.
While he waxed mine I washed his. His is a 2005 and three years newer than mine.  Here is Ken's nice clean car.  The yellow color seem attracts bugs and wow were their a lot of bugs to clean off the front.
Hope you enjoyed your day and you smiled often.
God loves you.

I grow plants for many reasons:
to please my eye
or to please my soul,
to challenge the elements
or to challenge my patience,
for novelty
or for nostalgia,
but mostly for the joy in seeing them grow.

Three Thankful Things Today
  1. Things to eat out of our garden
  2. Lunch and fellowship with church friends
  3. Ken waxed my car for me

I see that the leaves are already falling in your first photo. I love the shot of the chickens and the pretty rooster. So you have his & hers corvettes? The yellow is bright and pretty. Your tomato and peppers look great. Have a great evening!

I imagine you will have the picnic for Seniors on your patio next year.
Building a green house next? Send me some of your energy!
Handsome rooster indeed. Mary Jo

You crack me up! You have a yellow sports car? Would not have ever thought that, now why is that? I don't know. Thanks for your fun comments on my post. Yes you do need colors. You search out for colors, I can tell. I was just heading here when I saw your comment. {funny how that works}

Aha.. those leaves are proof positive that Fall is on the way. I for one, am happy about that!

Sounds like you had a nice day, and I'm so glad that you were able to have a nice time at the luncheon.

Yes.. your town is small. You probably know everyone, and they know you too. I think that's nice :)

The top picture looks like Fall is coming! There is nothing like that around here yet.

I think chickens are so funny! That looks like one proud rooster!

Meeting with other seniors from your church is such a good thing. I think you will enjoy it.

Good news to hear about Betty!

Sending good evening wishes!

Oh! I intended to mention that the pediatrician we had for our girls drove a yellow Corvette!

I really like the looks of your peppers and tomato. I'll bet they tasted even better than they look. I really like the looks of Ken's yellow 'Vette as well. We have leaves falling now, but it's because of the drought, not the arrival of autumn.

Hi There, I got stuck reading the 5 things your pastor said... PERFECT... IF we ALL did that, the world would be a much better place.

So glad you are enjoying fresh produce from your own garden. How special is that!!!!!

Glad to hear that Betty is doing well... Prayers continued for her.

Hugs,
Betsy

Gorgeous picture of the day and the rooster and chickens are so pretty! Glad to hear the positive report on Betty. Your homegrown vegetables look very good. That was nice of you two to work on each other's car. :)

I love that photo of the rooster with his harem, he is gorgeous. And pleased about the good news regarding Betty. Keep up the good walking, mine has gone by the board since my family arrived, I'll have to get back into it with a vengeance next week.

Hi! Your chicken and roosters picture is beautiful! I just bought a new camera. It's a waterproof one. I'm testing it out to make sure it's a great all-around camera. I'd love to take pictures as great as yours. Signs of fall here too. I can see the slightest change in the colors of the leaves. Have a great Friday!

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if you and Ken host next year's picnic on your new patio and serve homegrown produce from your greenhouse. I love how you two are always coming up with new projects and working on them together.
Hooray for the tomato and peppers. I agree, it doesn't get much tastier than fresh from the garden. Our tomato plants are just about done here. I'm planning to put in some fall veggie plants/seeds soon.
That is one beautiful car Ken drives and I know that yours is too. The colors reminded me of one of the first cars my sister and I had. Hers was a red mustang and mine was a yellow mustang. We jokingly called them the mustard and ketchup cars.
Enjoy your Labor Day weekend.

I always think your poultry pics would make fabulous ones for framing for a kitchen or dining room. You made Ken's car look terrific!

Weather here still in the 80's so fall is still away off for us although I have seen a few signs. Loved your early Fall photo. I agree fresh produce taste so much better then the store produce. Classy car and how nice of Ken to wax it for you. Glad you enjoyed the luncheon. I love Lemon Meringue pie.
