Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Stones

A couple of daisies
✻     ✻     ✻     ✻
65 degrees this morning, cloudy and very windy on my walk.  I walked around town.  I usually have a random walk around town but this time I mapped out a three mile walk and then another route that was just over three miles.  I wrote down the routes when I got home.  This way if my pedometer stops working, I'll know the miles of my walk until I can get a new one.  My Striiv is working fine now, just want to be prepared.

I walked around the little pond in town and thought what a nice spot this would be to have a picnic.
Kids are always drawing on the side walks with chalk and this picture caught my attention.  They are palm trees, but I like the idea that they might be lollipops.
A quiet walk around town.  Didn't see any one else out walking.  Just the usual people in vehicles that I wave to most mornings.

I walked 6.2 miles.

Ken went back to church to help with Bible Time again.  He took the cake I made yesterday.

I was home this morning trying to get some house cleaning done. A little got done but not very much. : )

Ken was home for lunch and then we both went up to Happy Trails.  I just walked around while Ken harvested more stone.  We went up the other driveway into HT.
There are stones of all sizes all over the place but this is one place where there are more than usual so it makes it easy to harvest.
Back home Ken put the stone in piles ready to be used.  We need lots more stone till Ken's new project can get started.  That doesn't look like a lot of stone but it is a trailer full and very heavy.
Now you must be wondering what is to become of all the stone.  Ken is going to make a stone patio and a BBQ pit.  The wooden deck we have now is old and splintery and we just want something different.

During the day it was really windy and twice during the morning the power went off just for a few seconds. Then late this afternoon after we were back home, a thunder storm rolled through.  It was 4:30 and I was about to start making Tacos for dinner when the power went off, but this time it stayed off.  Waited until 5:30 and then we ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for supper.

The power finally came back on at 8:00.  So I'm here now writing this post.  When I get done here it will just be about time for my ice cream.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

Three Thankful Things Today
  1.  We have all the stones we want for free
  2.  The storm has come and gone and left a nice cool evening
  3.  The power is back on

Vee - Unfortunately all three eggs were gone from the nest a few days after I discovered them.  Some animal must have gotten them.
The most interesting thing in town is the Drane House which is believed to be the oldest structure in Garrett County still standing. And the name of the town.
Not very exciting stuff but it's home.  : )

Some of those kids are rather artistic with their chalk drawings!
The stone patio sounds nice. I will be waiting to see the pictures of that!

Oh I am sorry about the nest.

Ken is very project oriented and this is a big one! I know that he does good work
with lots of attention to detail. I'd like to have a fire pit, but I'd have to take down
my only tree.

We are really dependent on electrical power, aren't we? We do have a gas cooktop here, so we're able to ignite it - carefully - during a power outage. It sounds like a very good project you have in mind for the stones, and how lucky you have a good place to harvest them. I do love that picnic spot.

The chalk drawing reminds me of trees from Dr. Seuss books. The BBQ pit is a great idea!

Lucky you to get the rain. Thanks for your sweet comments, and for wishes of rain for us here. No rain yet, but still plenty of clouds.
How wonderful it will be to have a new stone patio, and the price of stone can't be beat!
I'd love to do a low stacked stone wall on one side of our back yard, some day. We have plenty of stone around these parts also.

THANKS for sharing the quote from George P. Burnham... it's going on my chalkboard today; I love it!
