Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Starting the patio

Thistle
✻     ✻     ✻     ✻
I wanted to post this picture of the turtle yesterday but forgot about it so here it is now.  We saw at least 6 turtles come up to take a look at us as we kayaked by.  Lots of these grasses growing in certain parts of the lake nearer the shore line and the turtles seemed to like.

It was 62 degrees this morning with clouds and sun.  I walked one of my partly around town, partly out of town routes.

I saw Peggy walking her dog Saxon and another woman who I see often walking her dog too.

The usual rabbits were around and I saw a deer.

I think this is a pretty garden that I see walking around the ball park loop.  I like the bird house right in the middle of it.
I walked 6 miles.

Ken started laying stone for the patio.  He started right at the back door of the garage and blended it in with the stepping stones that were already there.  The  stones are already firm when you walk on them but Ken will put smalls stones and stone dust  between the cracks.  He has a long way to go but I think it will look terrific when he's done.  The next step is to get some fill so he can make a step up to the height that the patio will be.
I spent the morning baking chocolate chip cookies.  I always bake a double batch but today I doubled what I usually make.  100 of them will go to the kids for the snack at Sunday school.  The other 35 are in the freezer.
100 Cookies
The teens from church had a car wash down in the parking lot of Walgreens so after lunch we headed down there so they could wash the truck.

When we got back home I still had lots to do around the house and Ken took the trailer up to Happy Trails to get a load of dirt and that's where he is now.

We plan to have hot dogs on the grill tonight with watermelon for dessert.

Hope your enjoying your Saturday and you smiled often.

Baking cookies is comforting,
and cookies are the sweetest little bit of comfort food.
They are very bite-sized and personal.

Three Thankful Things Today
  1.  For my Mom - it's her birthday today. : )
  2.  Chocolate Chip Cookies
  3. That Ken is making us a stone patio - I've always wanted one.
 Comment Replies:
Winter - Yes, it was that cool.  Love up here in the mountains.  It was extra cool though.  Temperature at night is usually in the 60's and in the 70's during the day.  Once in a while it gets in the 80's and rarely does it get to 90.

Eileen and Art - Thanks for pointing out that the big bird house was for Wood Ducks.
Art - What a terrific job that must have been. : )  Yes, I do remember When Irish Eyes are Smiling.

Betty - Thanks for the link.  I did like it. : )

And I thank you all for taking the time to leave a comment. : )

Wow, I like the stone path that Ken has put down! I'm impressed that you baked 100 cookies just for the kids at Sunday school - and that you baked some in addition to that! I'm tired just thinking about it! :D

May you have a blessed Sunday -

Lindy

Wow, I don't which picture I enjoyed the most - the thustle or the garden. I'd love to have one like that. Turtles are fun and relaxing to watch. I haven't seen one around here in a few years now. Looks like you are enjoying the weekend to the fullest there!
