Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Garden Pictures

Love seeing these rolls of hay.

65 degrees this morning with a mixture of sun and clouds after all the rain yesterday and wind yesterday evening.  I had a random walk today all over town and down toward HT a bit too.

Some branches and limbs came down in the wind yesterday and one big old half of a tree came down and by a foot or so missed one of the old houses in town.

I started counting the rabbits I saw but quit counting after a while because there was just so many.

I saw Lena walking.  We didn't stop for a chat because we were on opposite sides of the street.

A couple in a car stopped to ask me for directions to a road and the funny thing was they were driving down the road they were looking for. : )

As always I enjoyed being out early in the morning walking.
I walked 6.3 miles.

Another morning at church for Ken helping out with Bible Time and home again for me.

It is funny to hear people up here talking about it being hot and humid here.  It is delightful weather for us after living between Baltimore and Washington DC where it actually is hot and humid. : )  Yes, it has been a bit humid but the temperature has only gotten over 80 a couple of times.  We have yet to turn on the AC.  Maybe our body thermostats haven't quite finished adjusting yet.

The cone flowers in my yard are all starting to bloom now.  Glad we put up the little white fence because they would be all over the sidewalk already.
My two peppers are coming along nicely.  They are Gypsy Peppers and produce red-orange wedge shaped peppers.
One of Ken's tomato plants has one little green tomato started.  Things are slow growing here in our garden, but it is fun watching things grow.
We've had a lazy afternoon sitting on the porch.  Now it's time to make those Tacos that we were supposed to have yesterday.
Hope your day has been sunny and bright and you smiled often.
happyone : )

  1. I enjoyed this peek into your garden today. You can't beat the coneflowers for performance despite the conditions. Yours look very pretty and it won't be long until you'll be enjoying fresh from the garden vegetables alongside those tacos.

  2. The rolls of hay look neat.. Your garden is lovely.. Some critter ate all our coneflowers :(
I will not complain about hot weather, not after this past winter.. Have a great evening..

  3. Over-all, looks like you had a nice day.
The purple coneflowers are so beautiful.... makes me miss the ones we had at the homestead.

Have a great night, and enjoy your tacos :)

  4. I can just imagine how pleasant it is this summer for you both. Visiting Baltimore just once in the summer was hell enough for me. Oh my! The humidity was oppressive.

Your flowers look so pretty against the white fence.

Great quote and so true! Can't have pirates for near relatives. Ha!

  5. Glad you two are so happy in your new home. Bet you'll NEVER (or at least SELDOM) have any hot weather (compared to where you used to live). Our area is fairly mild most of the time --until it gets unbearable in mid-August. So far, we haven't had much hot weather at all. And we haven't turned on our AC.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  7. Our A/C runs day and night for several months. I never had it until I moved to VA over 20 years ago, but now I cannot imagine not having it. Your plants look great. It is exciting to see the veggies develop.

    Have a good weekend.
