Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

He's Home

Looking out over the wheat
♡     ♡     ♡     ♡
I think the above picture is wheat.  Here is a closer look. I'm sure one of you will know for sure. : )

Thanks to those of you for naming the flower/weed as Dames Rocket yesterday.  That is for sure what it is.  It grows everywhere around here and sure makes the roadsides pretty, though I can see it is very invasive.

Another morning, another walk today.  It was 48 degrees again just like yesterday and the sun was out and shining too.  The morning starts out cool but by the time I get back home it is near 60.

I started down the road heading toward the farm loop, when Peggy drove by in the car and tooted ( she drives into town to walk).  I turned off the main road unto the farm loop when Peggy came up behind me in the car.  She wanted to warn me of walking the farm loop because bears could be there and attack me.  I told her I believe that the black bears don't attack people and I was not afraid of that happening.  I could tell that she was annoyed with me when I didn't agree with her.  I also mentioned that I think there is more of a chance of me getting hit by a car or having a hunter shoot me, than a bear attack.  Then she turned around and went toward town.

Here is that barn I like to take pictures of up on the right.  This time I'm walking in the other direction from last time.
I walked around town too and ran into Peggy again.  We said hi and I told her, I saw rabbits, deer, cows, a ground hog but no bears. : )  She was not amused. I have a feeling we are not going to be close friends.

Walking around town I spotted a clothes line.  Actually I see clothes hanging out on lines quite often around here.
A woman was out walking with her two young sons and golden retriever around the path behind the ball park.  The boys look like they already enjoy taking a morning walk. : )

I walked 6.5 miles.
Found TWO pennies. : )

A little bit late on finishing the housework this week, but it finally got done this morning.

Ken got back from his few days out in the woods with the guys right at lunch time.  He went with 12 men from church and they had a great time.  It was nice having a couple of days home alone, but it sure is nice having him back home.  : ) He's outside now washing the ATV.  A group of guys go every year and Ken is already looking forward to next year.
Ken looked at the mower tire and it is the valve stem.  Took the wheel off and later will bring it to The Tractor Supply to see if we can buy one to put in or maybe they can do it.  So I still might be mowing the lawn later this evening after supper.

We are going to go out somewhere for supper tonight, just have decided where yet.
Hope your day is fine and dandy and that you smiled often.

Three Thankful Things
  1. Ken is back home, safe and sound
  2. That Ken had such a good time
  3. Going out for supper

I love how the wheat looks in that first picture with the grass and sky in the background. Wow, good for you 6.5 miles. I'd love to get past 3 miles I do. Love you 3 things to be thankful for :) And I like the look and feel of your new blog too Happyone.

I think every guy needs some "man time" once in a while. Glad that Ken enjoyed his. Sounds like your new friend Peggy might be just a bit bossy and doesn't like it when people don't do what she tells them to. Glad you didn't meet any bears!
Enjoy your Sunday. I am taking a bit of "summer blogging break" so will have to catch up with you in a week or so. Have a good one!

Another great walk. I believe you are right about black bears, they seem more scared of people and run away..I would keep my distance from a mother bear and cub though.. Love the photos from your walk. Dinner out is a good thing.. I am glad your Ken is home safe and sound. Enjoy your weekend.

Wonderful walk! Nice that Ken is home. We can't be close friends with everyone, and in my view it is her loss. Hugs to you. Thanks for sharing your lovely walk photos. :)

Let's see....you've been walking around there how long now? It isn't as though you are just starting out on this walking the route you take.:) It sounds like a great day, regardless.:)

That is wonderful about Ken enjoying such good fellowship while he was away. It is always good to have our husbands return home, though.

Supper out sounds good. I made pizza, the first in a long time. I was too hungry and ate more than I should have eaten.

Enjoy your Saturday evening. You may be out there on that lawn mower!

I'd whistle a lot and perhaps carry a whistle. As your blogging buddy, I've been more worried about a rabid fox or a dog off its leash. Ken's getaway sounds like fun...now surely there is one for the gals, too.

I think you're right about the bears. When we lived in WV we saw black bears, and as eileeeninmd said, it's the mama bears to beware of, and even then she is just protecting her cubs; mostly they are more afraid of us than we are of them. I hope you had a nice supper out, and I'm glad Ken made it home safe and sound. Have a wonderful Sunday :)

Glad Ken had a nice time - sounds like you all are making nice friends in your new place! Well - not so new I guess - you've been there almost a year, right?

Bears will normally leave the area if humans are near. The problems arise if they see people as a food source. Attacks are rare, even with grizzlies, but can happen. Just be alert and you should be fine. And of course, never approach a wild bear but you are too smart to do that. I have encountered black bears while hiking a number of times, and they have always run. I respect them but do not fear them, and yes, we are all more in danger from other humans than from bears.

Even the mama bear I saw two days ago with two tiny cubs was not aggressive. She gathered her cubs and ordered them up a tree and was watchful bug never approached me. Now, if I had approached her in some fit of stupidity, all bets would be off.

I am glad that Ken had fun and that he is back home. Art
