Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Spaghetti Dinner

At work on the farm
♡     ♡     ♡     ♡
It was 60 degrees and cloudy on my walk this morning.  It looked a bit like rain but I didn't bother taking my umbrella.  First walked over to the post office to drop a Netlix off in the mail slot.

I walked the Farm Loop and then around one of the cemeteries, around town and then back home.

A rabbit ran out of the woods on one side ran across the street and right back in the woods on the other side.  I saw some cows in the field where #29 lives but they were far away and weren't looking in my direction so I didn't get a picture.  Maybe tomorrow. There were only 4 - two big ones and 2 babies.  I haven't seen any cows at all in that field since before winter.  I'm wondering if one of the cows today was #29.

There are a lot of lilac bushes around town and just about everyone has some in their yard and I can smell them just walking down the street.  I never realized it came in other colors.  Just knew about the light purple color.  Now I know it comes in a dark purple and white too.  It seems like the darker the color the stronger the smell.

Some really huge rain drops fell and I thought I was in for a real drenching but then after 5 seconds it stopped.

I walked 6.5 miles.
Found a penny. : )

The cabinets were getting a bit low on food so we made a trip out to Walmart to get some shopping done.  Ken and I usually walk around shopping together but we did things differently this time.  I went to the food section with the list and Ken walked around getting the non food things we needed.  I enjoyed doing the food shopping on my own.   I like to go up and down all the aisles and I stick to the list.  I also like to put the items in the cart in a certain way.
Ken did pop up a few times to put something in the cart not on the list. : )

I took a walk over to the library this afternoon to pick up a book that was on hold.  The book is King's Mountain bu Sharyn McCrumb and it is the book selection for my book club in July.  I also have the June book selection but have yet to read it.

Remember last month when I mentioned that church members were handing out tracts and there were teams.  We were seeing which team handed out the most.  The losing team had to cook dinner for the winners.  Well, we were on the winning team and tonight we are getting a spaghetti dinner. : ) By the way - all totaled both teams handed out 27,028.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

Three Thankful Things
  1. The smell of lilacs
  2. Library books
  3. A spaghetti dinner that I don't have to cook

Comment replies:
Beth - Oh, there will be some tomato plants in one of the beds.

Keith - Yes, and the rabbits too.  We have some living under our deck.

Thanks everyone for the favorable comments about the raised beds.
I'll keep you posted on how they work for us.

I found a penny this morning, too!

My wife and I also do our shopping differently. When we were first married, she couldn't understand why I did so much goofing around with something so "serious."

27 thousand tracts?! Wow, that's a lot! Were they all the same tract? Which one(s) did you use?

I love the smell of lilac :) And I usually try to stick to my shopping list, too...but there are sooooo many yummy things tempting me. I'm sure I always end up getting at least one or two items I hadn't planned on ;)

I used to have a lilac bush near my bedroom and the fragrance was wonderful, especially in the evening.
My dh and I go separate ways when we grocery shop too, and like you i do better by myself, as we were leaving our grocery store last week, i found twelve cents in the parking lot, I was tickled pink. ~smile~
Congratulations on your team winning the spaghetti dinner, and too all who passed out the tracks, what a wonderful way to spread the gospel.
Thanks for sharing a quote from one of my favorite authors, as always I enjoy your thankful list.
Blessings, Sue

I'm just getting caught up on what I've missed here the past few days.
You captured a great pic of the robin's eggs, esp. since the nest is so high.
I enjoyed all of the animals you saw on your walk that day. So cute.
The raised beds look great. What a neat idea to put them up a bit higher.
Hope you enjoy that spaghetti dinner tonight.

I love the Erma Bombeck quote! Sticking to my list is a challenge at times. I love the pictures of the countryside where you walk. You walked a little bit longer distance today. Enjoy that spaghetti dinner!

Congrats on the dinner :)

It made me smile to read that you like your things put in the cart a certain way.
I made the mistake of sharing a cart with a friend one time, and she practically organizes her cart in alphabetical order.
Well, I put a dent in her order, and she about flipped her cookie~~~~*giggle**.
We always use separate carts now, even if we shop at the same store.

Smile :)

A spaghetti dinner that you don't have to cook sounds good to me!

Your lilacs are blooming several weeks later than here. The ones here are long done for.

I absolutely love lilacs! As far as spaghetti goes, I will eat it happily when I am invited over to a friend's place, but I don't really make it for myself. :) And meals that I don't have to cook myself are always welcome and appreciated.

Hope that the spaghetti supper was delicious! Your discussion of grocery shopping has me in grins. Sounds so familiar. If my budget is squeaking, it's best to leave John home.

It's been quite a while since I've encountered lilacs. We had one in our yard when I was a kid. I loved its fragrance. I can imagine the whole town full of them!

Spaghetti dinner sounds good! That's A LOT of tracts - good job!

I wish I could stick to a shopping list. But alas, I always end up getting a giant bag of Peanut M&Ms or something LOL

That's a lot of tracts! That's a lot of people to reach for Jesus, and that's always a good thing. I hope you took pictures of your spaghetti dinner, unless you were too busy enjoying it! I didn't know that about lilacs either. My husband loves them and for some reason we seem to have everything BUT lilacs in our yard. I'll have to fix that! Hope you have a lovely day :)

We had the most gorgeous white lilac in France, but I do prefer the very dark purple one. Such a wonderful scent.

Great job on handing out tracts. I hope lots of people open up to Jesus as a result.
We would definitely have to use separate grocery carts! I make a mess of it.
Hope you had fun at the Spaghetti dinner. Mary Jo
