Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Colors on my walk

This morning my walk was one of sun and clouds.  The temperature was 50 degrees and the wind had finally died down.  I walked around town once again because I didn't know what the weather would be.
I took this picture walking down the road to one of the cemeteries.  Facing this way  was a bright blue sky.
Blue
Standing in the same place I turned around and took this picture of a gray sky.
Gray
Walking behind the ball park loop in the woods by the stream you can see how green everything is becoming after all this rain.
Green
Walking by the town pond I saw Dave, who lives next to the ball park, fishing and stopped to say hi.  Asked him if he caught any fish and told me yes.  The pond is stocked with trout and yesterday he caught a 18 inch trout.  Nothing yet today, though one broke the line and got away.  There is a limit of 5 a day.  When he asked me if I ate trout I told him I wouldn't mind eating one but I don't want to cook one. : )

Saw a couple of rabbits by the cemetery again.  Must be a bunch of them living there.
I used to see so many Canada Geese where I used to live and only see them once in a while around here.  Today I saw one walking alone by the little horses up the road from me.  Odd to see one alone.

Had a nice 6.2 mile walk.

We've had a little rain today but mostly its been cloudy with some occasional periods of sun.

It was Cherry Hill day so I took my cookies and headed up the road.  I thought Cherry Hill was about 4 miles from my house but I clocked it in the car today and it was only 3 miles so one of these day's I'll have to walk there.  I'll get a lot of steps in on that day.  : )  Since I get there before lunch it was decided that the cookies would be dessert today along with pudding.

Another nice thing about going to Cherry Hill is that I'm getting to know Pastor Grant better.

Just hanging around home here this afternoon.
Tonight after supper we are going to church to hear one of the missionaries speak as it's mission week this week.

Today is  National Day of Prayer - the 63rd one.
Pray not only today but every day.
God told us to

 "Rejoice evermore.
Pray without ceasing.
In everything give thanks:
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14

As I approve of a youth that has something of the old man in him,
so I am no less pleased with an old man
that has something of the youth.
He that follows this rule may be old in body,
but can never be so in his mind.

Beth - No, I don't use the cookie recipe on the package.
It's a recipe from an old Better Homes and Garden cookbook.
The recipe is HERE.

  2. I just asked John if he as aware that it is The National Day of Prayer and he said yes. That makes one of us. I found out about a tornado in Arkansas reading a UK blog. It's all very strange. One thing is certain, this country needs a lot of prayer.

  3. What beautiful blue sky ahead of you! Leaving the gray skies behind seems appropriate. It does seem odd to see only one goose walking along alone. Have a good evening!

  4. Thank you for the recipe! Since I bought a ton of chocolate chips at Costco before Christmas I will give the recipe a try.

Skies have been gray and rainy here all week.

I'm sure you blessed someone's heart at Cherry Hill today.. Just being there is just AWESOME.

    Hugs,
