Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A day to enjoy

42 degrees this morning with a mixture of sun and clouds and no wind.  Another great weather walking morning.  Went to the post office first to drop off some mail in the mail slot and then walked up and down most of the streets in town.
Walked around the two cemeteries.  I pass the town pond on the way to one of the cemeteries and today there were 6 geese there and this one lone duck swimming around.
Ken left while I was walking, to go to the train show down in Cumberland and I saw him coming down the road.  He stopped to say, "Hi, see you later."

I stopped home to get the library book I forgot to take with me when I left earlier and walked to the library to drop it off in the book drop.  Walked around town a bit more and then walked back home.
I walked 6.3 miles.

While Ken was gone this morning I made another batch of chocolate chippers for his train friends.  I always make cookies for them and now they expect and look forward to the cookies.
The train guys, there were seven of them, got here around 12:30 and they went downstairs to see Ken's layout and play trains.  They took lots of pictures too.  They stayed for 2 1/2 hours.
I made 6 dozen cookies and they ate 5 dozen!!  That's a lot of cookies for 8 people.

I stayed upstairs and knitted, read and just kept busy doing a little of this and that.

Hope your Saturday has been a day that made you happy.

That is a lot of cookies that your company consumed! I'd say your cookies are fantastic! I'm happy to hear there are more geese on the pond. Perhaps the duck will have company the next time. It sounds like it has been a good Saturday!

That is a lot of cookies! They must not have eaten lunch. Ha! is Ken going to show pics on his blog? It was 37° here this morning. Oh, I did check the forsythia and it will bloom soon.

I've read your blog for just one week, so far :)
I live in the northern plains and am trying to get motivated to begin daily walks. I work +50 hours per week (on my feet for those 50 hours) I am in my 50's so feel too tired most of the time to even think about walking for pleasure, yet your posts are simple and very positive.
You are very inspirational...and today, I discovered that you knit too!
Thank you for sharing...if you could share advice on how one might get up and get going....when they 'think' they are too tired to take another step...it would be much appreciated!
Have a wonderful day!

The sky and clouds in your photo are very dramatic, and how fun to have that train hobby. Nice of you to make all those cookies for the guys.

They must have really enjoyed those cookies! They must be really good. I guess working with trains works up an appetite. Art
