Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Tea Time

I woke up this morning and there was already 6 inches of snow on the ground and it was still coming down like crazy so it was back to the basement for my morning walk.  I continued listening to the Debbie Macomber book and finished up with disc number 6 with two more to go.
I walked just over 5 miles. For the month of January I only found 3 pennies, which is not surprising considering all the walking in the basement I've done.

A few weeks ago Nellie at Berries and More had a give-away and I was the lucky winner.  Part of the prize was a subscription to the magazine TeaTime and today the first one came in the mail.  Nellie had a picture of this issue on her blog and I was wishing that my subscription had started because of Downton Abbey being in it.  I got my wish.  I'm looking forward to sitting back and reading it from cover to cover later on.  Thanks again Nellie.

After lunch the snow had pretty much stopped with just some flurries so when Ken went out to clear off the driveway with the snow blower, I walked over to the post office and then to the library.

When I walked in the library, Lisa said, "You're here to pick up your books."  I like that I didn't even have to tell her who I was.  That would never happen where I used to live.  I really enjoy small town living.

Once I got back I cleared the snow off the truck, did a little shoveling around the edges where the snow blower can't go, and shoveled a path out to the bird feeders.  I sprinkle a bunch of seed around on the ground too and this morning the birds were really working hard at getting the seed out from under the snow, so I cleared a spot around the feeders too.

I've also had time for a little cross stitching  and will be doing a little more too.  I've been listening to the Debbie Macomber book doing that too.  I picked up the second audio book, Rose Harbor in Bloom from the library so can continue with the story.

That groundhog knew what he was talking about.  Winter is here for a while yet.
Hope you are enjoying your day.  It may be winter but it is still a brand new day and spring IS on the way.

A lovely win...I don't know that I've ever seen that publication. I enjoy articles about Downton Abbey, too...hope that it's a fun one! Do you drink tea?

Winter is still in full swing! We're expecting snow Wednesday!

Love Debbie Macomber's books. They are very soothing. Congrats on the giveaway win. I'll need to look for this issue of Tea Time as I'm a huge DA fan! I love being recognized at the library. It doesn't happen every time I go in, but fairly often. I actually use two separate libraries and in one of them the holds are "self-serve" and so is checkout. I don't really like that you never even have to interact with a real person.

I was going to read a Debbie Macomber book next but then realized that I didn't have #1 in the Cedar Cove series so I will be looking for that. In the meanwhile, I looked up a list of all of her books and realized that I do have #1 in the Rose Harbor series so I will be reading that one soon. I think that must be the one you are listening to now. That Tea Time Magazine looks interesting. I am liking Downtown Abbey better again after last night's installment, so I will keep watching. Have a good evening!

I picked up a few copies of TeaTime when my mom was in rehab. I really liked a few of the recipes I tried.

We had a lot of rain here today and about 15 minutes of heavy snow. It was beautiful.

I am glad you have found a way to enjoy audio books. It has added a richness to my life that I would never have guessed. The audio book was new to me about 10 years ago ... when my husband's eyes started to fail and he sold off his entire library and switched over to audio. At first it seamed a little strange but enjoyable to listen rather than read. Now when I pick up an actual book to read, it is the reverse ... a little strange but enjoyable.

This year I got my first Kindle. I always said I would never have a Kindle... that I enjoyed reading the actual book, holding it and turning the page, etc. Well, I have learned to never say never. I LOVE my Kindle. It is so slight and easy to carry with me in my purse. I love always having a book with me in my purse - actually, I have about 30 of them in my purse. And there are so many free books out there. And our library does have a way of lending books through the Kindle - even though I haven't had a chance to try that yet. LOL.

Anyway, I have gone on way to long. Glad you found a way to enjoy a book by listening. At least it has helped with your winter walking in the basement.

Small town living really is wonderful isn't it?? I like how in small towns everyone recognizes each other, like the librarian did with you.

What a fun win! Congratulations.
That looks like the perfect magazine to read on a snowy day.
It sounds like you're making great progress with your cross stitch.

That tea time magazine sounds pretty cool, lots of good ideas. I know that may sound unmanly to say, ha! ;^) But you can plan some formal teas for the two of you or for your new local friends.

You new town sounds nice. Art
