Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

My Snowman

A cloudy morning BUT it was 30 degrees and no wind. : )  My walk today took me around the farm loop and around town.  I've really missed walking passed the farms.  I didn't see any cows but these three horses all looked up to have their picture taken as I walked by.
A quiet Saturday morning.  Didn't see anyone else outside.  Just a few cars on the main road and no cars at all passed me all along the farm road
or on the road back to town.

I had too many layers of clothing on because I got pretty warm after a while.  Not complaining though - it felt nice to be warm. : )

I walked 6.1 miles.

I have the day to myself.  Ken went down to Tomonium to the train show for the day.  It's about 2 1/2 hours from home.  He has a list of things to buy that he will use for his layout and a trip down there gives him a chance to meet up with his old train buddies.

I called my friend Bernice and had a nice catch up chat with her.  She's my friend who I have known my whole life and is the sister I never had.  Her and her husband Chuck are planning a trip here when the weather warms up.  It's been awhile since we've seen each other and I can't wait for them to visit.

Then I called my son David had a catch up chat with him too.  Got to talk to my grandkids Scout and Japhy too.

I had a whole list of things I was going to do today while Ken was gone and I didn't do any of them.
We've been working on the puzzle getting all the pieces right side up and today I finished.  The border is just about done with just 3 pieces that haven't been located yet.  They will just turn up as we work on the puzzle.  I don't like to have any pieces inside the border but with a puzzle this big I don't have any choice.  Some big puzzle huh!?
The day turned into a beautiful sunny one with temperatures in the mid 40's.  By afternoon I just had to go outside.  Since it's been so cold the snow was very light and feathery, not good for building a snowman.  Now with the temperatures warming up the snow is melting and is wet, perfect for snowman building so I went outside and made a snowman.  I had to make him a bit smaller than I wanted to because I couldn't lift the second ball of snow I rolled up on top of the first one.  Snow is HEAVY.  Here is my snowman.  Isn't he cute?  I think HE looks more like a SHE.
A few cars passed while I was making him and they tooted and waved at me.  I guess they wished they could be out playing in the snow too. : )
I was quite warm building the snowman and I ended up taking my jacket off.  Then I sat on my swing for a while.  Looking up through the tree branches was a beautiful blue sky with some clouds passing by.
It's been a lovely day.  The things on my list will just have to wait for another day.
Hope your day is happy and bright.

I absolutely LOVE your snowman! What a lovely day! It's nice to be able to catch up with friends and family on the phone. I hope Ken had a good day, too.

You have the BEST time, no matter what you do! I wish we had enough snow to make a snowman. Most of it melted today. Your happiness and love of life are contagious.

I love this post. I call days without hubby or kids "mom vacation days" so you had a nice "mom vacation" today. So glad you got to talk to family and friends and have some fun in the snow! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

OH . MY . GOD!!! The puzzle sure is BIG!

I remember now why we don't do puzzles all that often even though I enjoy them. We have cats who just can't help but play with the loose pieces. I bought a puzzle board from Bits and Pieces that could be closed up and put away with the partial puzzle inside, and the trays of loose pieces all enclosed, but it wouldn't fit a puzzle as big as this!!

I was hoping Ken got to the show in Timonium. I kept seeing the ads on TV and thought of him. I assumed he would go - bet he goes every year. Just like me and the MD Sheep and Wool Fair. Hobbies are good things, especially for retired men who typically didn't have hobbies in their working life. But Ken was the exception. What is really special is that he is able to set it up right in your basement - instead of somewhere else.

I am very happy for the way your life has evolved, Happy One. And I am glad you continue to share your life with us readers here on your blog.
