Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

More of the white stuff : )

Woke up to more snow and it's been snowing all day.  Had a basement walk this morning of 5 miles.  I probably could have walked outside, but with the plows going by and the snowy roads I thought I'd be in the way of traffic and it wouldn't be safe.

The first half of my walk I memorized another Bible verse.  I kind of knew it already and just had to refresh it in my mind.  Then learned the next line of the next verse.  I'm putting the verses on 3 x 5 cards and carry the current one I'm learning around with me.  I'm not that good at memorizing things so this is a real challenge for me.  I figure this is making God happy so he will be helping me. : )

The second half of walking I listened to a CD that Ken made up of a bunch of different music so I had a nice variety.

I went outside this morning just to walk around the yard.  Put more seed out for the birds and walked down to the mail box.  It sure is pretty when it snows and I'm really enjoying our first winter here.

I got my house cleaning done for the day and then spent some of the afternoon knitting.

Every so often we get up to look out of the window and the snow just keeps coming and coming.  Looks like I'm going to get my foot of snow that I've been waiting for.

Here's a picture out the back door with a ruler in the snow on the picnic table.   I just took the picture a little while ago and the snow continues to fall.
A couple other pictures out the back door.

Are you having a snowy day too?
A happy day to you my friends.

Snow was falling,
so much like stars,
filling the dark trees
that one could easily imagine
its reason for being was nothing more
than prettiness.

Three thankful things for toady.
  1. Watching the snow fall - so peaceful and calming
  2. That I know how to knit - have to thank Linda for that.  There's a story in my learning to knit.  I was a little girl and was down the Jersey shore with my mom, her friend who I knew as Auntie Wilma and her 4 kids.  It had rained for days on end so my mom thought she'd teach all us kids how to knit.  Everyone got the hang of it but me.  My mom lost patience with me and I cried.  Linda, who was a couple of years older than me took me aside and spent the extra time with me to teach me.  I finally got it. : )

I think you will have your foot of snow! We have had flurries here, but nothing has stayed on the ground. The temperature is falling, and our low tonight is predicted to be 12 degrees with a -5 wind chill! That is cold!

Love the pictures!

My daughter, who now lives in Maryland, (Ft. Meade) send pictures today of all the kids playing in the snow. I guess she got the day off as a "snow day" and they all had a lot of fun playing in all the beautiful white stuff. What a cozy, happy day! I love it! Great story of learning to knit. So glad you learned how. BTW, no my daughter doesn't know if the baby is a boy or girl yet - probably in a few weeks!

I had a pleasant morning of snow yesterday. Tomorrow, we'll get three inches of this latest system as we are on the northern edge. We are very cold, though. Glad that you are able to get some walking in and work on memorization, too.

We are having snow too. My youngest son works in a grocery store and has been called in yesterday and today because of the crowds. We have to go get him at 9:30 tonight and are praying for safety out there for us and everyone. I tried to teach myself how to knit, but it didn't go so well! I'd like to try again when I have time, though. You do such beautiful knitting and needle work. Hope you stay warm and safe.

Beautiful photos of your snow. We finally got some today (2 inches) --a first for us this year---and it was so pretty.. It was 'my' type of snow, one that clings to everything. I'll blog about it soon...

BUT--the low tonight is 5 degrees. YIPES.
Hugs,
Betsy

Glad you're getting some snow. No new snow here, but it's -37 here this morning! Coldest I've ever experienced.

Gorgeous snow. that is a nice tale of your friend Linda showing some patience and teaching you to knit. She would have been old and gray before I learned, I think! ;^) Art
