Thanks, Baby 3 and one side finished

Thank you every one for all the Happy Birthday wishes.  : )

Before walking down into town again this morning I checked out the Bird Nest.  All three eggs have hatched.  It's early in the morning here and they are all sleeping.  Mom flew off when I came to see.  Both mom and dad take the babies food and they are Robins.
I just walked around here and there around town and passed by our future home again. This road I walked down in town is one block over from the main road.
I saw another walker and said hi and asked if she walked often.  She told me she was just getting back to walking after winter.

As I was walking I heard something buzzing around my head and it went under the bill of my ball cap.  I went to shoo it away and whatever it was stung me on my eyebrow.  I don't know what it was but it sure did sting for a while!

I walked 5 miles.

The first half of the roof shed is now finished.  I took this picture walking up the hill.
Tomorrow we will do the second half.  If we don't get it finished before we have to leave we will just put a tarp over that half.  Here is a picture with the 2 x 4's already on it.  Just have to put on the metal panels.
In the back corner we put the first of the boxes in it. They are under the roof but we put a tarp on them just in case it rains.
Here is where we sit and take a break.
It was another sunny day and warm in the 80's like yesterday, though now sitting in McDonald's parking lot it is raining like crazy.  Sure glad we put that tarp on our stuff.

That's it from Happy Trails for today.
Hope you day was bright and sunny.

Starting the roof and baby birds

I walked down a hill and then up a hill and into town this morning and had a nice walk around town.  I passed by our new house and imagined living there. : )
Ken picked me up in town and when we were back in the trailer he surprised me with these pastries and muffins for my birthday and a beautiful card that made me cry.  We ate the pastries for breakfast and will eat the muffins for breakfast tomorrow.
We made good progress on the shed but didn't get as much done as we thought but we always do that.  Things always take longer then we think.
I had the job of putting these metal fasteners on all the trusses.  Tomorrow I will do the other side of the roof.
Here is Ken working on the roof.
We are doing a different kind of roof this time.  Instead of having to put up plywood,  tar paper and then singles, we are putting up a metal roof.   2 x 4's which are 16 feet (length of shed) are put front to back and then large metal panels are screwed into them with self tapping screws.  This type of roof goes up much faster and is easier.
In this picture two of the panels are up and that is where work ended for the day.
We had another nice sunny day but a bit warmer with temperatures in the 80's.  Supposed to be another nice day tomorrow and we hope to finish the roof by the end of the day so we can put our stuff under cover.

Here's an update on the birds nest on the tractor tire.
I checked on it when I got back from my walk and one of the birds had just hatched and the second one was just starting.
A few hours later there were two.
I haven't checked since because I didn't want to disturb her again.  I'm sure the third one as hatched and tomorrow I'll take another look.

So that's it for today.
Sorry I haven't been around to visit but just don't have enough time.  I'll catch up when I'm back home.

A very happy day do you.

Finished the trusses

No morning walk because we left early for HT.  Unloaded the truck up near where we are building the upper shed.  We put out a tarp and put all the boxes on that and then covered them all with another tarp. Things should be fine there until tomorrow when we put them inside the shed.
We got the end trusses up and most of the bracing done.  Here's a picture of the work so far.
Tomorrow we will be working on the roof and when we finish that will get the front wall done.  We were going to put in a garage door but decided to have just a regular door.

It's been a beautiful sunny day here with a bit of a wind and the temperature was in the mid 70's.

Just a short post this evening.  It's already just about 8:00 and we still have to go to Lowe's for some building material for tomorrow.

Hope all is well in your part of the world.
Till tomorrow........

Cheese Cake Lunch

Raining pretty hard when I woke up so I dressed in my rain paints and brought along my umbrella on my walk this morning.  It was 57 degrees.
I walked over to the lake and by the time I got there it had stopped raining already.  It got brighter and never did rain again until later after I was already back home.
There were no people around as I walked the first half of the lake, but then there were quite a few people about.

There were so many rabbits around that I didn't even count them.  Lots of deer too.  All the usual birds and also a couple of Blue Birds and a Red Tailed Hawk.  I stopped to watch a Robin dig up and eat two worms.  Also watched a heron walking along the edge of the water.
This is the first turtle I've seen in a long time.  He was just a little thing.  He was walking along but went in his shell when I stopped to take his picture.  At least he couldn't run away and before his picture was taken. : )
Said good bye to a couple more walker friends.
I walked 6.4 miles.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tuesday again and I went to my knitting group.   Small group - only 8 of us there.  I  knitted on the baby blanket from last week.
While I was at knitting Ken went to Sears and bought a small upright freezer.   We will put it in the tractor barn until we move into the new house.  I am going to cook some stuff up and then we will have food already made for when we are living in the trailer for those 6 weeks.
When I got home we went out again to the Cheesecake Factory and had dessert for lunch.  We were going to do that Thursday on my birthday but since we won't be here and I'll be helping put a roof on the upper shed we went a couple of days early.  Here's what we ordered.  I forgot the name of what Ken ordered by mine was called The 30th Anniversary.  Oh my goodness was it ever good.
I'm glad I didn't try to eat a lunch because I couldn't even finish the dessert.  This is what I took home and will finish it later.  I don't even want to know how many calories are in it because it was worth every single one!!! : )
Ken will be loading the truck up with another load later today and we will head up to HT in the morning.  We are hoping to get the roof finished so we can bring the rest of our things up.
A happy day to you my friends.
A day of packing
It was a chilly 42 degrees again this morning when I walked but it wasn't windy and the sun was shining brightly.   Such a beautiful morning and perfect for walking around the lake.
There were quite a few people out there this morning walking, running, and fishing at the shore line and in boats.  This picture shows a couple of boats and their reflections.
More of the geese are back and I walked past this group of them
and only got hissed at once.
Here's a few baby ones as well.
I saw a few rabbits, deer and the usual birds.
I was out walking a little longer than usual this morning because I stopped to talk to some of my walker friends to tell them I was moving and to say good bye.  There are a few others I'd still like to say good bye to.
I walked 6 miles.
Here's a couple more picture of the lake.  I took these yesterday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today we boxed up lots of kitchen stuff.  At one point we ran out of boxes and paper and went driving around behind stores trying to find some.  We hit the mother load of boxes in back of a Pet Smart and found a bunch of newspapers someone had thrown away.  Back home we boxed up everything in the kitchen that we wouldn't be needing until we are in the new house!!
Most everything is out of my loft too.  The table, chair, keyboard and empty cabinet is all that is left.
Things are moving along nicely and we don't feel rushed doing a little each day.
We are going to have a time of it when it comes to unpacking because we aren't packing anything in order.  All kinds of things are mixed together and we haven't marked anything.  What fun it will be to open up boxes and have no idea what will be in it.  : )

I did a couple loads of laundry.  I've taken the clothes off the line but they are all stacked up on the bed waiting to be folded.  And that is just what I'm going to do now.
I usually fold them on the island in the kitchen but it was covered in packing material when I brought them in so just took them upstairs.

Hope your day was sunny and bright and you spent some time remembering all the men and women who died so we could enjoy this day.  (even though the real Memorial Day is May 30 - my birthday)  : )

A cool sunny walk

It was a bit on the chilly side this morning.  Only 42 degrees and windy but after the rain and humidity everything was bright and fresh and there was lots of sunshine.  Made for great walking weather!

Started by walking over to the liquor store to look for coins and then walked one of my connect the path routes.
The fox was running up ahead of me on a path and veered off into the woods when he spotted me.  Lots of birds chattering and sounding cheery.  They too were glad to see the sun shinning.  There were rabbits along the side of the paths having breakfast, a few deer scattered about in the woods and I heard a woodpecker.

It was pretty windy but walking along the paths under the canopy of the trees protected me from all the wind.  As I walked along I could hear the wind blowing the trees about above me.  I looked up and took this picture.
Snapped a bunch of pictures walking along.  Here are some of them.

I only saw one other person out all during my walk!

I found 2 quarters and a penny.
Walked 6.2 miles.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We were walking around BJ's and I hear someone say,"Happyone."  I turned and it was Elaine, my friend, fellow knitter and blogger at My Next 20 Years of Living.  : )
We bought paper plates and a big box of plastic silverware so we can just throw them away when we are living in the trailer.  I won't have to wash them and it saves water.
We then went to the mall to Bass Pro and bought a camera that we can mount near the birds nest at HT and hopefully get some good pictures of the babies and the comings and goings of mother bird.
The mall is not a good place to go on a Saturday afternoon if you don't like crowds!!  But I did get some extra steps in there. : )
So here we are at home now.  Should be boxing some things up but here I sit at the computer!  Not to worry it will all get done! : )
Enjoy your Saturday.
High and Muddy
It was 58 degrees and it wasn't raining when I started walking this morning but when I got to the lake I felt a few drops of rain and a quarter of the way around the lake those few drops turned into lots of drops and since I didn't bring my umbrella I got pretty wet.  Ken called to see if I needed rescuing but I told him no I didn't mind walking in the rain. Over by the main entrance the rain slowed down and finally stopped for a while.  It got pretty windy and I started drying out.  No more rain while walking but we did have more on and off rain during the day.
I only saw 3 other people walking around the lake and they were as wet as I was!!  They didn't seem to mind either.
Saw a few birds and a few more geese but all the other wild life must have been trying to keep dry someplace.
The stream along the path behind the church was high and muddy.
I found a quarter.
Walked 6.6 miles.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I went out and did a few things and while out changed around a few appointments I had.  I find it easier going in person instead of talking over the phone.
I was back home by lunch time.

I have been really bad about doing my Body Electric exercise and haven't done it since I was in the hospital back in March.  So this afternoon I decided it was time to get back to it.  I'm sure I'm going to be a bit sore tomorrow!!

After that I had a snack of celery and peanut butter and then made a batch of chili for tomorrows supper.  We can get three meals out of my chili recipe so I will freeze the leftovers and save it for two suppers while we are living in the trailer.

Ken is making us a stir fry for supper tonight. He is quite a good cook!!  Lucky me!!

That's been my Friday so far.
Hope you're enjoying your Friday.

Back home

Didn't get any more work done on the shed.  It continued to rain on and off all night and when we woke up it was still raining so we just left for home.  Didn't get to walk again this morning.  : (

Here's a picture from yesterday before it started raining.  Everything has finally sprouted and is all a beautiful green now and will be overgrown in no time at all.  The shed is behind me and this trail leads to our neighbors house, Ron and Teresa.
There was a package in the mail for me when we got home.  Remember the book These is My Words I read a couple of weeks ago and said I'd like to own a copy of it.  Well, Ken ordered the book for me.  : )
We went out to do a couple of things after lunch but now we're home.  Don't feel like packing anything else up so we will take the rest of the day off and just relax a bit.

Hope you're enjoying your day.

Vee - The closing on the townhouse is June 18 and we don't move in the new house until Aug 1.  So that leaves us 6 weeks of living in the trailer!!!

Edit:  I went for a short 2 mile walk after supper.  The sky looked threatening so I stayed close to home.  I found a dime. : )
I feel better having at least walked a little!!

Just a short post.

We came up to HT with a truck load.  Unloaded it all and packed the stuff away in the tractor barn.  That upstairs room sure is coming in handy.

We worked on the trusses after lunch and got seven of them up and then it started to rain and we had a thunder storm.  It was 3:30 and we were getting tired anyway so it was a good time to quit.  Hopefully we will get the front and back trusses up tomorrow.  We plan on leaving for home tomorrow early afternoon.

This trip was mainly to get another truck load up here.

Till tomorrow. . . . . .
Be happy.

A new record

Yesterday after supper I was very close to my best personal step count on my Striiv so I went for a little walk around the neighborhood to beat it.  These are pictures of my striiv screens for steps and miles.  I got 10,000 extra energy points for it.

This morning I walked around the lake again.  The weather was just like yesterday.  Cloudy, looking like rain and very humid but it never did rain.
I saw some bunnies, the usual birds, the little frog again from yesterday and there were a few more geese around.  Not a lot, but more than yesterday.  I guess they'll slowly came around again.

I walked 6.2 miles.

Tuesday is knitting group day so I took along a baby blanket I'm knitting on and left at 9:45.  I usually take a people count but forgot to today, but there were about 14 of us there.  My days are numbered with this group and it is another thing I will miss when we move.  I checked to see if there was a knitting group near the new house, but there isn't.  I'm thinking I'll start one.

Ken did most of the work but I helped a little and another truck load is packed up and ready to go up to HT tomorrow morning.  It is hard for me to help  because Ken is a very good packer and likes to work alone when fitting everything in just so.  I just cause more work for him by 'helping' him.  : )

The sun came out and it ended up being hot and humid - feels like the middle of summer today!!

Hope your day is a happy one.

A guest walker around the lake

I walked around the lake this morning with Cheryl.  As most of you know I met her through blogging about 5 years ago.  She is also my hair dresser and a very special friend of mine. : ) She lives only 14 miles away.  She got to my house at 7:30 this morning.  Before she got there I walked 2.5 miles around the neighborhood.  I found a penny in the liquor store parking lot.

When Cheryl arrived we headed directly to the lake.  It was a gray humid morning and seemed like it would rain but it never did.  It was 65 degrees.  It was nice showing Cheryl my lake and I pointed out things to her that she has seen on my blog.  We saw the white egret and the heron.  A rabbit or two, some birds, and a little frog.  Strange that we only saw a few geese.  Wonder where they all got to.

There were a fair amount of people about  but only saw a couple that I knew.  Walking a bit later there were different people there.   We talked our way around the lake and before we knew it we were heading back home.

Our walk together was a bit over 5 miles so I got a good long walk in this morning of about 7.5 miles.

When we got back home Ken had gone to Panera's and surprised us with breakfast so we had breakfast together and then Cheryl left.
It was really nice having Cheryl walk the lake with me. : )

A picture of my little front yard.
(at least for a little while longer)
For part of the day we've been boxing things up.  Ken is working down stairs and lining things up for a truck load.  I've packed most of my stuff up from the loft - all my yarn, and all that goes with that and crafts.  I remembered to leave a couple knitting projects and my weave-it loom out so I'll have something to do.

We are going out in a little while to do a few errands, stop at a friends house and then I'm hoping to have supper out somewhere. : )

Hope you're enjoying your Monday.

Just believe

The following is a page from Joyce Meyer's devotional book, Ending Your Day Right.  I read this last night and it is so true for me.  It is why I am Happyone.  : )

May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing . . .
that by the power of the Holy Spirit
you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope.
Romans 15:13

As a believer, your joy and peace are not based on doing and achieving, but on believing.  Joy and peace come as a result of building your relationship with the Lord.

Psalm 16.:11 tells you that in His presence is fullness of joy.  If you have received Jesus as your Savior and Lord,  He - the Prince of Peace - lives inside you.  You experience peace in the Lord's presence, receiving from Him and acting in response to His direction.

Joy and peace come from knowing, believing, and trusting in the Lord with simple childlike faith.  So just believe . . . and be filled with an overflowing hope that cascades into every area of your life.

Have a blessed Sunday.
I pray you too find peace and joy.

Three eggs today

I didn't walk this morning because I wanted to help Ken get as much of the upper shed done as we could.  Started right in working at 6:45.

We had a couple of problems with tools jamming up.  A couple staplers got stuck in the staple gun and Ken had to take it apart to unjam it and then the nail gun jammed up on a couple of nails that got stuck and again Ken had to take some time to get it fixed.  But he did and we got quite a lot of work done.

Here's the shed with three of the walls done, and the front framed out.  We put a big tarp on the floor to try to protect it a bit if it rains.  We aren't going to put a garage door in but got a wide regular door - I forgot the dimensions.
There have been so many different birds around HT today.  We saw a Pileated woodpecker, a Blue Jay, finches, crows, a Downy woodpecker and some birds that I've never seen in person before.  One of which was a Scarlet Tanger and I think an Indigo Bunting.

Today the nest on the tractor had another egg in it and I saw the bird a couple of times though I still don't know what it is.  Blogger friend Art suggested it may be a Rufous Sided Towhee and when I looked that up thought yes, that is what it looks like, but they don't lay blue eggs.  Well whatever the bird is, it will be exciting watching and waiting for the babies to hatch.
We left for home about 4:30.  It's been a long day and I'm about ready to sit in my comfortable chair and watch some television and have some ice cream.
I'll be around to visit you all tomorrow.

Hope you had a great day.

Another day another egg

We never did go to Lowe's yesterday because it looked like rain but it never rained either so we could have gone.  So Ken went this morning while I walked and he picked me up in town on his way back.  I had a nice walk into and around town.  I passed by our future home and it's looking mighty nice!!
I see quite a few of these as I walk around.  : )
One of the first things we are going to do when we move is put up my clothes line!!

I walked 6.4 miles.

We worked on the walls for the shed today.  Here I am right after we made and put up the back wall.  The other side of it is already painted too.
Here we have the other two walls done with the 2 x 4's which are the two sides. Tomorrow we will put on the plywood and stand them up.
We've just been to Lowe's again for the plywood, more paint and a door for the front and will continue work tomorrow.

The bird nest from yesterday now has two blue eggs in it.
The bird flew away so fast yesterday so I didn't get a good look at but I saw it again today and it may just be a Robin.  It just seems too big for a Robin and the color doesn't seem right.  I'll just have to get a better look. She leaves the eggs alone for such a long time.  I wonder how many more she will lay.

Well that's it for today from Happy Trails.  We go back home tomorrow.
Hope your day has been sunny and bright.

Egg in the nest

Started raining during the night and it was still raining when I woke up in the morning.  Didn't bring any rain clothes for walking so I didn't go for a morning walk.  We ate breakfast and I made the bed and straightened things up.  There is not much to do in the trailer on a rainy day and we couldn't work on the upper shed so we decided to take a drive out to Morgantown, WV and checked things out there.  It has a mall and most all the usual chain restaurants.  Also found a Michaels and BooksAMillion.

It stopped raining and the sun came out and dried things up enough that we could finish the last two trusses which were the ends and painted them.  Here is one of them.
Yesterday on my photo blog I posted a picture of a bird nest which was sitting on the tire of our tractor.  Today when I looked there was a pretty large blue egg in it.  So now Ken can't use his tractor for a while.  I saw the bird but don't know what kind it is.  It is pretty big and kind of looks like a BIG robin but has orange on its back too.  I'll have to get a better look at it and maybe I'll be able to get a picture.
We will be going to Lowe's in a little while for more lumber.  We will get started on the walls of the shed tomorrow.

Not much time for posting so off I go.
Hope your day was a happy one.

A walk, making trusses and a phone call!!

While I walked this morning Ken went to Lowe's to get the lumber for making the trusses for the upper shed.  Couldn't go last night because it rained.  I walked into town and up to the first cemetery.  The pink phlox growing there looked so pretty.  I call it mountain pink because that's what my mom called it.
It was 55 degrees and the sun was out and it was very windy but the wind was warm.  I saw a groundhog and a bunch of rabbits.  The rabbits here don't stand still to get their picture taken.  They took off like a shot when I got near.  I guess the ones around the lake are used to people walking by.  I also saw a lot of red winged black birds and some gold finches as well.

Ken picked me up in town on his way back from Lowe's and we came home and ate breakfast.

I walked 5.8 miles.

We started on the trusses soon after breakfast.  We got all the wood cut to the right sizes and then put all the pieces in the truck with all the tools we would need and drove it up the hill.  We worked all day except for lunch and we stopped to take a phone call which I'll tell you about in a bit.

Here's one of the trusses as we lay it out and put the pieces together.
We made seven of the things and just have the last two to make which are the two ends and they have a different pattern to them. That will be for tomorrow.

Now for that phone call we got.  It was Terri our realtor telling us we got an offer on the townhouse!!!!!!  Full price!!!  As long as the house appraises for what we are asking and it passes the inspection it looks like the townhouse is sold.  : )
We went to Uno's for supper to celebrate.

Hope your day has been one of sunshine and good happenings for you.

A walk and then up to Happy Trails

A chilly start to the morning.  Only 32 degrees but the sun was shining, there was no wind and it was great to be out walking.

I walked around the lake again and there was a mist over the water.  I take quite a lot of pictures of this scene, but it is one of my favorites.

I saw lots of bunnies but no deer today.  The birds were happily chirping away.  They seemed extra happy. : )  I saw a Baltimore Oriole.  Don't see them very often.

Quite a few people out around the lake enjoying the cool crisp weather.  I saw everything from people wearing gloves to tee shirts and shorts.

I thought these wild flowers looked pretty along the path by one of the footbridges.
Posting early today because we are heading up to Happy Trails in a little while.  Ken is loading up the truck as I type this.  We hope to get a good bit done on the shed there so we can store more things for the move. The more we can move now the better.

Off I go to help Ken.
Hope your day is a happy one filled with sunshine.

Two plants

It was a nice crisp sunny 40 degrees this morning when I walked and my ideal walking weather!!  I walked on over to the lake.  My walking around the lake days are numbered so I am really enjoying it more than ever.
I saw a few deer around, some rabbits and of course all the geese.  Looking across the water on one of the little islands it looked liked a bunch of eggs scattered around so I zoomed in on it with my camera to see and sure enough they were geese eggs.
I saw quite a lot of Gray Cat birds this morning and also a bird I've never seen before.  It was mostly black and had red almost like stripes through it.

On the way home a couple of cars stopped for me at the cross walk to let me cross the street.  Nice to run across some of those considerate people that are still around.  : )

I found 4 pennies.
Walked 6.4 miles.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a very nice morning at church yesterday on Mother's Day and I came home with two plants instead of one.  My friend Mary Jo gave me hers.  Isn't she nice.  These are the two I picked out.
Yesterday morning we had 2 more viewings of the house, but no contract yet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A perfect day for washing the sheets so I did that first thing and had them hanging out on the line and drying in the cool breeze.  It didn't take long and before long they were back on the bed.
Not much house work to do because we are keeping everything super clean and putting everything away when we are done with it.  The house seems so sterile!!!

We had to leave the house because of another showing between 2 and 3 this afternoon.  We just got back.

Hope all is well in your part of the world and that your day is a happy one.
